As per the regs. (specifically, 10.6.1), the starting driver must be declared "on the occasion of the administrative checks by filling in the appropriate form".
'Goes on: "Unless a notificatuon of a change of driver is made in writing to the stewards at the latest 30 minutes after the end of qualifying practice," ...the driver must be the aforementioned one. |

I found a few youtube videos from the test day but most are from the stands so it's all the same vantage point.

some unusual angles in this one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTc9lWdDTxE And this is hilarious at about 2:13. Two Porsches squirm through the shot on the ragged edge followed by a Toyota which is apparently being pushed around by the hand of god or something. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9vbnzwTL64 Last edited by Mike E; 5 Jun 2018 at 20:44. |

The videos above of the cars going away from the camera are great, and I will admit to being a total Porsche nut, but honestly can you beat the sounds coming from the Porsches as they exit and go off down the straight? |

As a matter of fact, yes. As much of a Porsche fan that I am, give me a Matra or Ferrari V-12, 7 litres of good ol' 'Muricun iron Ford or Chevy V-8s or even a Cossie or screamin 'Bimmer straight six...

Well after watching the new Astons at Spa and after what can only be called a complete failure to show anything required to be competitive at the test day, the only hope is for a fairly large adjustment in their favour, but not sure they will get it.

I don't think they're going to get much of a boost. I think they're holding back a little bit. The others could be too but I have a feeling Aston isn't being completely honest about their pace.

Well as two of the cars did very little on test day and the other two were propping up the field they did a very good job of looking like they were holding back.

Maybe they are that slow. I think the aco has to be cautious either way. Don't want them in no-man's land but neither blitzing the field.

Completely agree. OK, they had a dreadful test day, but I refuse to believe that their new car is that slow.... |

Seems a bit odd to me. They know how quick the opposition are and have done loads of testing. Why are they slow?

Way, Way too much sand ............
Problem is, the ACO have been hoodwinked by too many others before (FORD!) to be fooled again! should have left the V12 in the front ......... then some sympathy might have come there way just because of the noise! |

Like every year if they're not already been gifted over winter (which to be fair is usually more the case) They build moderately crappy cars (this being the first new car since AMR-One LMP1 mind you, the old Vantage was just mildly modified rehash of the under performing 2008 GT2 car) and expect the organizing body to do everything for them. It's been the same exact thing all decade Which to be fair is INTELLIGENT. Why would you waste money and time when you can just do it this way in a broken system Last edited by Deleted; 6 Jun 2018 at 19:39. |

Yes. Embarrassing again to see how the BoP hides the real potential of the car.

FIA/ACO need to wait to after Le Mans for BoP adjustments upwards on performance. Am still mad about the Ford farce. At Spa, the Aston AM car looked nearly as quick as the near car. Surely Aston would have worked to develop the new car to be more competitive.

My all time favorite is the Aston Martin LMP1. Am a big Porsche fan - like the Mezger flat six engine note better than the current RSR. The new RSR engine sounds too much like the old NA Ferarri engines. Guess I'm a slow adaptor to change.
