First Run-Off won by Martin Groves, second by Willem Toet.
new hill record for Groves (by one-tenth) plus records for Phil Cooke and Sue Young. Apparently one other class record but no details from my source. Quiet day incident wise apart from Alan Warburton taking a corner off in the Esses. |

Lots of good climbing - those big cars are fast. jrs car seems to be getting there so long as he can get it off the line. Groves dropped the record by 1/100th, and Phil Cook took the 1600 mark to 26:09 - stunning. Trever Willis was knocking on the door of the 2 litre record too, having seen his long standing Caterham record beaten. All in all, a pretty good week-end with some quick runs and well-behaved drivers.

The Paul Matty Lotus Class record was the other one to fall.
Juniors times are beggining to fall, he managed to get it into the top 12 this morning. But here is something VERY spooky indeed... In the last big meeting before the 100th anniversary of Shelsley. The ladies record was improved by... a 100th of a second. The outright hill record was improved by .. a 100th of a second. For the 1st time tonight, I measured the how far the trip to Shelsley is. The distance between my front door and the lower paddock gate at Shelsley is exactly ... 100 miles. |

From a spectators point of view it was as good as it gets.
Pat on the back for Willem Toet who managed 2 PB's yesterday. And to think these times would have taken the hill record only 2 years ago. |

Ah, Willem. The man who's smile wouldn't fit his helmet! I gather he was more than a little chuffed by his times.
Another notable performance was Scott Moran who went faster than his dad on 3 out of 4 runs, not that Roger was totally happy to be reminded of this after the meeting! Quite a few other big-class drivers were on form too. Simon Durling seems to be enjoying his car this year and I thought Mike Dean was outstanding. I didn't make the Chevron bar this time, but the invitation was most welcome, and the party seemed to inspire Keith Harris into new territory. The lovely Chevron was setting some very good times. From a marshalling point of view, may I express my thanks to everyone who endured a longer than expected day on Sunday without a proper lunch break. I understand that the technical problems that slowed the run-rate will be receiving some attention over the next few weeks, so I hope there will be no recurrance. |

Did anyone get any video of Toet/Dean/Groves/Ranson
If so we would be interested in using it to add to Shelsley onboard footage. We have the record with the onboard camera, a few more little cuts of video from somewhere other than bottom S would make a cracking addition. I hope to show the footage at the Shelsley August meeting. Oh, and we want it for free!!

They seemed to be having a good time. Particularly enjoyed the two Escorts which weren't hanging about. Some good cars they brought with them too.
