this is an ugly practice...lots of cars in the wall and turned around and a few wrecked.
some are going to have to do some serious changes before Q time. |

They were worried about a crash fest last year at this track with the hard tyres, seems this is being replicated this year except it's probably because of the chassis.
It'll be reet come Sunday. We'll have a clean day I'm sure. |

It seems like most of the cars that were in the wall in practice were Dodges. Wonder if there is any connection.
Kasey was pretty upset with his qualifying run. |

Carpentier and some of the other "go or go homers" had those quick times because they went off so late on the cool track. worked for them and not for others. Kyle is going to be hard to beat ...he's on a roll and in his home town. the Busch sisters usually run good at home. |

be good if the nationwide race could run 5 laps before someone hits the wall, 5 cautions already .... did notice there are a number of cars with no sponsorship ....

Well once again the 3rd Nationwide race of the season was decided by a coming together between two team-mates... Nothing intentional by Martin, just a result of three cars getting a bit too close.
Pleased to see Dario get P6, kept it top-15ish most of the day (and would have been on course for P2 but for the late debris caution). Hopefully that will give him a bit of confidence for the Cup race...he's dangerously near the top-35 cut-off at present. |

anyone know what happened to Ambrose, saw the spin, didn't look damaged apart from some very flat spotted tires, but never came back out...

Apparantly the huge amount of steering lock that Marcos applied to save the car resulted in the steering arm knocking the oil pump belt off an engine pulley...thought it was strange that he didn't get back out there. Shame for him as he was roundabout where Dario was so would have been in good shape at the end.
The thing that most impressed me about Dario was at the last restart where I thought with his older tyres he'd struggle to hang on to P6, but he held his own and if anything was initially challenging for P5. Dario's certainly got a good handle now on the Nationwide car; really he had a good turn of speed with it right from the word go last year so nice to see him get a top result at last. |
