The Bugatti circuit barriers threw me for a second there, but I think it is exatly the same. Through those windows is the banking next to the run from Porsche. With the wheel there, and from what I remember hearing it will still be there? You see a little less than in Eric's video, but no more or less than before i think.

As an aside, you are as usual, brilliant Eric.

Looks to me like Porsche is taking control over the Le Mans circuit. All they need now is a win. Watch out ACO. The building is huge, shame it is so close to the circuit.

Yeah it is a bit imposing. Very interested to scope it out when it's fully built next year.

I'm assuming it will have heavy VIP usage during race week. A popular move would be to do something similar to what Audi created a bit further up the track - a new vantage point for fans.

But yeah with all that Porsche presence I think Ford need to come back and defend their chicane.

Maybe they can swap names Fordchicane becomes Porschecurves and the other way arround.
If Porsche loves fans it would be a great gesture to not only allow VIPs. We will see. Audi proved to be great for the fans last two years.

Rocky did not hit Kaufman's Ferrari (although it was awfully close...), he went onto the grass to avoid contact and lost control.

So now it's official, the asphalt extensions over at Mulsanne-Indy rundown are not public road improvements/maintenance/whatever but for "safety"... how very surprising. Same can be said for the Indy-Arnage section as it has been bought off by the ACO. For the Arnage-Curves straight there is no explanation but it's obviously the same "reasoning".

The article also confirms that the 600K Porsche Curves upgrades do differ from the Corvette Corner extensions for 2014, unlike originally thought

It would be much better and costless if they didn't allow drivers like Kauffman race. There is no excuse for what he did.

Yes no excuse in doing just what they instructed you to do at drivers meeting, hold your racing line

That penalty for him was a farce. Just as is doing this shoulder job under 'safety grounds'

Safer barriers are being added to the Porsche Curves.

http://www.dailysportscar.com/2014/1...he-curves.html

More grass disappearing and tarmac appearing in certain areas. It looks like they are actually reducing the first gravel trap on entry. It will be interesting to see how the finished article looks.

I'm all for the safer barrier going in. A bit more sceptical about the rest of the changes but they can't just sit there and watch drivers continue to get hurt.

The drivers don't get hurt because of grass and gravel.

The SAFER barriers are great. The ever continuing asphalt extensions not. But I've pretty much given up hope on La Sarthe anyway, it is utterly doomed for sanitation like all big FIA tracks today. Let's just be happy they haven't touched Nordschleife yet, that's the thankfully overlooked gem despite relatively big categories running there today.

Kristensen really chose the right time to retire. Tarmac in the Porsche curves is stupid.

Okay, this is pretty far out of left field, and obviously way speculative. That said, I was watching what appears to be an early build of Circuit de la Sarthe from the upcoming Project Cars game. I noticed that the ferris wheel is obviously in the wrong place. Maybe the ACO told the designers of the game where the big wheel will be placed once the Porsche Design Center is finished???
