They're suggesting that the people FROM the team would run a CART team.

"The rumors suggest that the drivers would be men who are currently employed as F1 test drivers." Nice, top level talent.

Very cool, I hope this is true.

Wouldn't have a damn thing to do with Cadillac themselves, then

Ford has a 2 year contract to supply engines in CART. so Cadillac will race with Fords? Sounds a little off the mark.

But the team itself has some very heavy hitters when it comes to engineering, especially one Nigel Stroud.

It looks like Wayne Taylor and Cadillac are going to field a new ChampCar team. This from Seventh Gear (third rumor down). http://www.seventhgear.com/html/news/rumors.php

Doesn't Wayne Taylor drive or did drive in ALMS?

Perhaps Cadillac are using a team to get into CART this year, get used to it over a season or so then launch as the factory team in 2005.

I don't know about Caddilac, isn't this just Wayne Taylor's effort?

Almost...

Sounds like Taylor wants to use the team members that ran the Cadillac ALMS car that he drove. They do not still work for Cadillac as GM shut down that program.

Wow, a site about rumors. Cadillac would be a fine addition to the series. But he says at one point in the article "...we've now got a 2003 Lola." With the chasis freeze how is it that there are ANY 2003 Lolas? Unless they just call the design from last year 2003 for any cars built this year. Whatever.

The best news I saw on that page though was that Alex Zanardi will be driving at Lausitzring in a modified Champ Car!!! (It's the second rumor down) He's supposed to run 13 laps, the number of laps left in the race when he had the accident. I'll bet he's still got it! We'll see him back in the series if this goes well, I hope.

But it's all just rumors right now...

Sounds like a strange rumour, but who knows what might happen? Wayne was linked to a 2003 entry previously, and maybe he's planning to run the team until the end of 2004, as an attempt to convince Caddy to enter with engiens under the new formula. These are exciting times for Our Favourite Series, and I hope this turns out to be a true rumour.

I think you're dreaming if you believe for a minute that Cadillac has any connection to this other than being the former employer of Wayne Taylor and his team. If they can't find the money for one more year of an LMP that has been designed and built, and was suddenly going to have a realistic shot at winning Le Mans this year, what makes you think that they'd spend money on a startup CART program?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Wayne join the circus. I just don't believe that Caddy management will embark on a new racing scheme so quickly after quitting another while, after not winning a race, announcing "we've accomplished what we set out to do."

This from grandprix.com. http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns11000.html

It says in this article that former (cadillac) members want to start up a new CART team. Nothing about cadillac (the company) wanting to start up a new team.
