Good News for Jordan,Firman can actually drive!
The Jordan team can breath a collective sigh of releif ,it seems newly signed "non-paying" renta driver driver Ralph Firman can actually drive an F1 car. With the first race next week ,Firman topped the testing times around the short Silverstone circuit. While he's hardly likely to be the next WDC it should mean the yellow cars put up a reasonable showing at Melbourne.
Wednesday's times from Silverstone: 1. R. Firman - Jordan - 0:42.372 - 30 laps 2. M. Webber - Jaguar - 0:42.395 - 13 laps 3. T. Sato – BAR - 0:42.610 - 18 laps 4. A. McNish - Renault - 0:42.742 - 128 laps 5. J. Trulli - Renault - 0:43.552 - 25 laps 6. G. Fisichella - Jordan - 0:43.951 - 22 laps 7. F. Alonso - Renault - 0:44.477 - 25 laps |

I think Ralphie will suprise a lot of people!
Scud is right - he has beaten a lot of established stars on the way up yet never seemed to get the breaks after F3. |

Good to see Firman potentially can deliver, seeing he basically only had his first F1 drive last week, and next week he has to qualify for a GP.Glad Jordan didn't come up with another Alex Yoong who spots the feild 5 secs a lap.

Well, one thing is for certain: If he even gets close to Fisichella, he will have done a tremendous performance.

Of course he can drive,
he's from Attleborough, a legendary town of people trying to drive their modified Novas and 106s like they're in F1. Come on Firman! |

Firman's ability to drive was never an issue. Jordan's performance this year is another subject althogether. If they can deliver the bacon Firman will certainly be able to eat it.

I expect Jordan to deliver more Spam than Bacon, the car defiantely won't be too impressive, and Firman could be down with the Minardis on pace. Certainly those of us who've followed Ralph's career are in no doubt that he can drive, hhis career record is pretty good and he's built up plenty of experience.
Fisichella managed 7 points with a pretty poor car last year, so he should still score fairly often under hte new system. |

I dont think the Jag or BAR will be too high up the order, and Sauber have said their new car is not fast enough, yet.
Renault's engine aint the quickest....could be interesting.... |
