Also, this is the first time I've caught the start, and I think I've seen more passing in the first 30 minutes than I've ever seen in earlier years when I've checked in later. I wonder if that's because they had no marbles on the off line yet?
IMO Bathurst is one of the best tracks in the world.

I mean the dots on the Youtubge stream.
BTW they are not visible anymore.

Maybe I've been watching at the wrong time in the years before, because it has been very processional, and the commentators have really harped on the impossibility of going off line.

As, maybe it's one of those tracks where experience is useful. It does look fabulous!

But there are overtaking opportunities in the corners before and after start/finish, Griffins bend, the chase.

Yeah, I guess that's where it's happening, as I've now seen more action there than I've seen before.

There you go, I open my mouth and the reason I was asking for reveals itself.

Not a good start to Mostert's session..... crossed the blend line thanks to cold tyres and copped a drive through. With a 40kph pit lane limit thats a dent in his chances and a bit of a silly mistake for someone of his standing

Probably to indicate crossing start/finish line, related to TPos column.

There's always attrition at The Mountain but maybe these numbers will work for long green runs? I'll always look forward to the pre dawn start, no matter the numbers!

And I've not witnessed Valentino Rossi on four wheels so I'm looking forward to that.

Practice starts later today (tomorrow for me, I think). No rain in the forecast. Practice days look pleasant - Mid 70s / Mid 40s (23 / 8 C) but jumps to 85 / 55 (29 / 12 C) race day.
Noting: track density for Mount Panorama is only about 63-65 cars...

Terrific comeback drive from Mostert to recover that forced drive through but now we have their slowest driver back on board.

He's certainly no slouch, watched him live at Brands Hatch last year in the Fanatec GT series and he was really quick and consistent. I don't no if he's driven the BMW previously? Pretty sure he was driving an R8 last year.

Talbot is doing a really decent job, and that's a smart team using him during the SC.

What a pleasure to watch a race without stupid contrived safety car pit procedures. The lucky dog thing is nonsense, obviously, but the rest is great because it's simple. The pit lane is always open. Take your chances!

It could use some more makes as well, but I'll always enjoy watching machines work around The Mountain....

Just caught up after being on an hour and a half delay. Got a GnT and a fire going so I might settle in for a bit.

And it even looks steep on the tele!

I say the same thing about my home track, Road Atlanta, but understand it pales in comparison to an actual mountain
