Pit stops?

I was checking out the pit stops overview on cart.com from Road America, and I'm a bit confused about how some of the pit strategies worked out. From my understanding, a pit stop for fuel and tires had to be made every fourteen laps, with lap 4 being the earliest a driver could come in. How is it then, that Michael Andretti and Mario Dominguez pitted on the first lap, and didn't pit again until lap fifteen? Even if they took on fuel and tires during the first stop, wouldn't they have to come in again at some point before lap fourteen? Or am I just hopelessly confused?

Sorry, I didn't make my point clearly...
Wouldn't they have to make a pit stop between laps four and fourteen for it to count as an "official" pit stop, if lap four is the earliest point they can stop?

I am confused by your question, so I will take a guess. Lap 4 is the earliest you can pit and still only pit 4 times during the race. Pitstops before lap 4 count though. For example if you pit on lap 3 you can run until lap 17, but you will end up having to pit 5 times during the race. That is what they mean when they say lap 4 is the earliest you can pit.

Clear?

Ah yes, thank you. A silly misunderstanding on my part!
