917Addicted should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Le Mans results, facts, etc

Ok, Le Mans is over (for another year). Bentley won it and (I think) beat the post-chicane Hunadière Straight (spelling Fab ) distance with 377 laps (two more than 2002 R8).

Ofcourse we cannot say which racecar led the fastest race because of rain, safety-car, time spent in the pits, etc...

However, can someone reply with figures of the post-1990 race, like race distance, fastest lap, pole-position, safety-car periods, rain and time spent in the pits for the leading cars?

Hope every people understand my thoughts. Unfortunately my English is rather pale

I will have some info for you later, but my question is do you think that we will see any car race at Le Mans that will cover 380 laps or more in the future?

Well, I love this thread !

To 917Addicted (good addiction !), the spelling is Les Hunaudières, but I the effort ! And don't worry about your english skills, mine remains desesperaly weak despite of my meetings !

Your question demands checking of the ACO books, I'll do it this week-end ; the 1995 (rain, rain, rain) and 2001 races (showers, showers, showers) are the main races of the last years, but the 1992 (or 1993 ? With Peugeot anyway) started under a storm too... we had also time under safety-cars during 1999 and 2000 race due to wrecks (Boutsen) or burning cars (Tinseau) which slowed the race significantely...

To Garrett, I assume that there's almost no record that couldn't be beaten... including this one...

I know this more or less from the previous years:

2003 - I think 3 safety car periods; no rain
2002 - again no rain, although I don't know how much time run under safety-car
2001 - rain, rain, rain and more rain. And then again more rain
2000 - Audi's first win; Tinseau car burnt in a fire after 3 or 4 hours (can't remember)
1999 - Mercedes planes (maybe from the WWI ) and Boutsen acident => a lot of time behind the safety-cars
1998 - It rained during the night
1997 - TWR-Joest win after leading Porsches dropping out of the race; 2 fire-accidents (just before the Mulsanne Corner)
.....

(sorry I don't have more facts, but I'm at the University and I have my things at home)

Another thing that I would also like to know:

How many laps did the front-running teams run on a tank of fuel?

Of course a direct comparison can't be made between GroupC/Sport3.5 , WSC, GT1s and the current LMP&LMGTP (different tank size)

10 to 13 laps. They had 120 (even 160 !) liters in the 70'... they could afford to 30 laps !

Thanks Fab, nice to read. What ACO books are you talking about? Are these the "yearbooks" which are published after the races?
