SBR pit stops !

How fast are SBR with both pitstops today. Marcos looked like it was a high 5 or 6 second stop, and Russell's 6.8 second stop just put the teams to shame.
Do they have better guns then the other teams, but just watching them they do it like clock work.
Well done to them.

Watch some of the other teams and you will see the majority of them losing time because of where they place the replacement wheel - they have to physically swing right around and the REACHHHHH for it - there is at least a second to 2 second in those two actions alone.

They were great stops & that was where the race was won, some of the other teams have to lift their game in this area as with the series is as close as it is it could well be decided by pit strategy & the speed in which the stops are completed.

SBR ..Lightning fast - they remembered the debacle they had once in the pitstop at ORAN PARK and setout at being the top pitstop team

They've been the top pit crew for a while, and I guess the key is just practice.

They practice all the time, in the actual place they will be on the raceday which must help enormously...

At Bathurst, while most of the other teams were finished for the evening on the Friday, the SBR mob had the #4 car out on the pitlane, and did dozens of changes, with fuel head attached (no fuel going in, just timing)....

The harder you work, the luckier you get!

Practice makes perfect

SBR have worked very hard over the off season and its paying off.

How many times did his crew cost him a race win in season 02? Oran Park springs to mind

Morris 1100 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I remember watching a team doing practice pit stops at Bathurst one Saturday night about 15 years ago.
They kept at it for about 2 hours until they were sure that they had it right ..... and it paid off ...

About seven laps into the race the front right wheel came off going into McPhillamy Pk and the car hit the wall!
After all their practice they never got to do a pitstop!

I'm told that SBR were very happy with their pitstops over the weekend but belive there is another 0.5 sec' for improvement.Got to love a Team that thinks that way.Benchmark Team of the Series.

If they improve anymore, they could be last on the track, do a stop and come out in the lead.

I like the way the SBR wheel guys seem to have the gun almost on the nut as the car is coming to a stop. PRECISION PLUS. Lots of little gains in lots of little areas.
You can't overtake at Surfers - except in the Pitlane.
Well done SBR crew.

Practice does make perfect and SBR have obviously done their homework, but as an earlier post mentioned, SBR have done more than practice, they've studied and refined the method. People who work smart will often beat people who work hard.
