Maybe no one. Will teams run GT-1 next year in the LMS or will they start into a new GT program or LMP program to reflect the new/upcoming rules?

Darren Turner? He lost his SEAT factory drive for next season.

But like Horndawg said: Will there be a G1 class next season? If grid size don't increases I think it's better to kill GT class in LMS. Such poor grid isn't good for the promotion of LMS.

judging from their text, there will be 6 round in 2009.... Jesus...
ONLY SIX ROUNDS??!!!!

We have much more teams than ALMS, much more cars, much more cars diversity, real endurance races (no those sprint "things" they have that only last a couple of hours like F1....)... but dumb organizers and poor marketeers....

Well....

Hope to see Horag there anyway... and... by the way: What do they mean with "factory-supported"?

More races while keeping true endurance lengths would drive away teams. Smart organizers.

It's possible Horag's "six" implies 5 LMS races plus the 24 Hours of Le Mans? Or maybe even Sebring again?

indeed. The few races over long distances the better. Why change a winning formula - I'd even go as far as to fear that six could be one too many if they stick to 1000k.

Think of it this way, the series is built on the backs of privateer entrants and it's far more cost effective to do several long distance events than many shorter ones, and both give any entrants the same amount of time in the car.

To echo the above 2 posts, the things quoted as reasons why there should be more than 6 races are only true because there are 5 or less races.

You may have more entries, but I think we have more quality entries, especially in P2.

'the six rounds of the 2009 Le Mans Series'

I would think a Le Mans drive or trip to the US may be funded seperately due to the extra cost/demand.

So the question is, who wont be driving for Horag in 2009? Jan Lammers moving teams once more?

by quality you mean big fat factory support?
In that case yes, you have.... but for me quality is not equal to big factory support. Privateers can have as much as quality as they have.

Who? ALMS organizers? Yes... i agree... but LMS organizers? no way... i can believe that teams only want one more race than the 5 we have. If the problem is that the major teams also want to go to ALMS for theyre real endurance raounds... well... maybe thats time to start to think in a world championship with the best LMS and ALMS races.

I agree that its unthinkable to have a 10 rounds championship with 1000km races, and, as already demonstratade by the organizers, the pression in the media (mainly tv conerage) is for smaller races and a 50/50 scgedule between 1000km and 500km races would be a good experience for a start.

Winning formula was Group C in the eighties, and that was also "built on the backs of privateer entrants".... this formula isn't working. Audi and Peugeot already demonstrated their concerns with the continuous lack of visibility of the series.

This "winning" formula will only result in the disband of the big constructors to the ALMS or even worse...

The series has took a major step forward this year, and looks set to improve further in '09.

Anymore than six or seven 1000k races is unwise, teams also compete at Le Mans and have the option of competing in major ALMS events.

Depends if the teams want to travel that far, bit like Interlagos '07.
