pD F1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Why the 3 week break?

What is the general reason for having a 3 week break between Bahrain and Imola? F1's 3 week 'break' is in August, so why do we have one here? Bahrain is closer to San Marino than Brazil is and the last few times Imola followed Interlagos (2001, 2002, 2003) before Sakhir joined the calendar, there was no 3 week week gap then, just the normal 2 weeks. Is there any reason, is it the fact that last year and this year, we have had the longest ever race calendars?

The date of Monaco is fixed by external factors, and other European races in the early part of the season are slotted in around it - this just happened to be the best balance for the calendar.

There are quite a few back-to-back races coming up.

The GP calendar has never been that regimented. Long may it continue! ranom race in January I say with the odd month off mid year.

The rabid Ferrari fans will claim the FIA knew montoya would injure himself so put the gap for him to recover, the rabid anti-ferrari group will claim the FIA did it on purpose so Ferrari would have more time to get their car sorted. Couthard fans will claim that this three week break will be his three week break. The truth of the matter is that it is so that the Minardis can actually finish a complete race distance before the next one.

Having a break now also gives the GP2 teams an extra weel to prepare for the start of their season. More importantly to F1, it allows the teams who've had disappointing performacnes so far to perfect their cars away from the spotlight, as it's hard to do development when you've got races all over the world to prepare for. Remember that there are 6 back-to-back weekends later in the year, and there is at least plenty more racing (including the starts of MotoGP and ChampCars, plus some of the Touring Car championships) in the 3 weeks, so why not check those out?

It's to do with frieght forwarding!...The 'fly-away' races are literally that!...It takes time to palett document and forward all the equipment back to their various teams bases and then the equipment has to be prepared/repaired and packed and loaded on to teams own road transporters and then driven to Imola. Quite an achievement in logistics really!
