Colin Blair and his Money

They don't seem to have been able to achieve a seat for 2002, so does he have any plans in other categories.

I heard that he had a lot of money for the 2001 & 2002 campaigns but he simply failed impress to gain a seat for 2002.

But if I have heard some incorrect information then I'm sorry, but it would still be nice to find out what he's got planned.

He certainly didn't seem to have the speed of Pyper last season! But then, he did put in a couple of good performances - would also be interested to know his plans for 02!

I think he just couldn't get to grips with Front Wheel drive. He's been Scottish Road Saloon(right name?) champion numerous times in RWD Cossies I think.

Indeed. Anyone who can set the Knockhill lap record in an RS Cossie can't be all that bad.

With Colin I think we see the difference in standard between a 'good' club driver and front running saloon racers in the BTCC.

To win races in anything is a great achievement - but to me Colin has looked out of his depth ever since he stepped into that Primera back in 2000.

He's also had some rather frightening, self inflicted accidents. He doesn't look too comfortable in the car, giving the impression that it is driving him.

I agree that some of this maybe due to lack of experience with FWD, but a top liner can jump into anything and be on the pace pretty quickley.

I heard Colin Blair was shown an in-camera qualifying lap of DOnny with Pyper driving and said if that was what he had to do to go that quick then forget it!!! That probably doesnt mean he is not good but shows how committed Pyper is....

hi guys,I read your comments with interest.....It is safe to say
that I won,t be involved in the btcc this year as I fail to see
the commercial viability for me!
there are alot of other series that offer more for alot less of a budget and I am exploring many different avenues.
It is interesting to hear comments about the standard of the touring cars versus other championships.......front wheel drive versus rear wheel drive etc,all I can say is that I have raced super tourers and
I have raced rs500 and escort cosworths and I have to say that in
terms of out and out excitement factor they don,t come better than
the cossies.......the production cars are pretty tame and really
last year came down to being in the right car eg peugot/reliablity
not alfa/unreliability....I am sure that I will hear some differing
opinions...

Hi Colin

Whatever you decide to do this year, I hope you enjoy your racing - after all if you don't enjoy it, there's no point doing it!

I agree with you on the cossies - I remember being at Brand's when the World Sportcars raced their with Lammers, Schumacher,Wendlinger, HHF, etc. The BTCC was the support race - I remember Rouse and Gravett doing virtually a whole lap with door mirrors locked together.

I seem to remember that in a test at Silverstone - Rouse was clocked at 175 MPH which was about the same top speed as a DFV cosworth Grand Prix car
