DNQ should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Petition for a Unified Series

We all have our own views on the CART vs IRL war, and we all have differing opinions...but there is one thing I am sure we can agree on. There has to be just ONE series of top level open wheel racing in the United States. There are two ways this can happen: through the death of one of the championships - or the better option, re-unification. If you are the for the latter, then I encourage you to sign this petition that has been set up:

I am more a Cart Fan than IRL, but I signed it while in the IRL forrum, as this is not an us versus them thing.

One seriers would be better right now for open wheel racing in america. Both are not as good as they could be. Both can have good racing, both could have there own niche. Two series could survive, but not as they started out and not as they are. They could only both survive as two healthy open wheel series if they would help each other, but that I do not see happening

As I see it Cart was goign strong, but had problems. The board and owners bickering about things, and Tony George wanting more a say. So Tony took his ball and went home. Cart has made trys at unification with the engine pakage and Chassis. But too many people are to arrogant and to stubburn to do antyhing to help Open wheel racing in general as that is would it should be about. Maybe if the cars were more equal and both sides listned to each other we could hae two series... Teams could race on each other series here and there and race togheter at Indy and Open wheel could show how good our racing is(better than some other series that I wont mention).

Right now both are struggling and would not be struggling as much as one series...so that is why I signed the petition.

As it is not about one series against the other
It is about Good racing
Good side by side thrilling open wheel racing
on ovals, or on road or street, or maybe on both

Good racing were ever they race
and that they keep racing

To Open Wheel racing

And one last note...good luck to all IRL drivers and every other driver at indy this May and Good luck to Cart coming to my State at the Milwaukee Mile and the whole season

Be safe and race hard

I'm not really sure that unification would necessarily be good; it would ultimately shrink the size of prime open-wheel racing in US.
How many cars are there in CART and IRL? Let's say 40.
How many cars would there be in an unified series? Certainly less than 40.
Most of the teams would disappear, and, sad to admit, the survivors would be the same old tycoons: Andretti, Ganassi, Penske, Newman Haas, Nunn, etc.
What I think it's important is that the two championships target two different levels of teams, letting all survive at a prime level.
For example, a team like Panther did a great job since they exist, despite enjoying a small budget; it's a prime team and doesn't deserve to disappear.
How is it possible?
First of all, i'd say, preventing bigger teams to take profit of their power to oligopolize the championship: a strong control over expenses should be brought back, e.g. limitating private testing.
Many other things should be done, but I don't wanna be too long.
The problem today is a crisis of identity of both series: they have been swapping some way in the last 2 years and this transition isn't over yet.
That is why both seem a little bit senseless.
At the end of the transition maybe everything will be more clear, and the scenarios are two:
1) Cart and IRL swap 100%: IRL becomes the richer one, with lesser but richer teams, and dropping all-oval philosophy
2) CART gets back to its previous role , but some critical problems have to be solved: first of all bringing back competition among manufacturers (both of engine and chassis)

Last but not least: both series should retake a yankee soul that has practically disappeared , but is necessarty to regain interest in US audience: there have to be more US drivers
