Most grandstands will be fully booked by now, but number 34 is great value, is covered in case of rain (it won´t) and gives view to the pre-race exhibition. I had it last year and was fine

Ahoyhoy "24Hours",

All the info you need is out there....

Check out http://www.club-arnage.com and then all the links from there, such as http://www.beermountain.com which give a lighter view of precedings.

You're a little behind the curve for getting tickets, but the bigger agencies should be able to sort you still.

For a first visit don't worry about which campsite or grandstand you end up in (the grandstand ticket is only a luxury anyway) as they are all good.

You can get the train from Paris to Le Mans or hire a car, so that's your transport sorted

What else do you need to know?

Welcome in France, 24Hours ! An appropriate Login, if I may say so

First : you'll arrive at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport --> two choices :
- rent a car (small one for, say, 30 €/day, enough for your trip)
- take the TGV (fast train) to Le Mans, then hail a taxi/take the bus to the track
Second : duration of your stay -->
- short (3 or 4 days) : stay around the circuit, sleep (?) where you are...
- longer : reserve a room in a hotel (and the car will be usefull here)
Third : tickets ! No problem for the main public area, you can get your ticket at the gate ; gransdtands : there might be some still available ; call ACO's desk (they speak english) and ask for what you could get

Other solutions :
- try a "all included" ticket (English membesr could help) ; Guy posted usefull links above...
- try Gilles (one of our members) who works there around accomodations...

Gilles, are you around ?

You say !

Waiting for the whole programm and schedules, as we've now two weeks in a row, instead of PQs week-end and the race's week... But at least :
Wendesday - Thursday : practices - qualifications
Friday : open pitlane, TT meeting, pilots parade
Saturday-sunday : erm...

Has anyone comes across potential difficulties getting across from Blighty this year? From Portsmouth, where Brittany now effectively have a monopoly, it is costing a fortune. We are looking at getting to France by other means and hiring cars once there.......

What about the shuttle, under the Channel ? You could keep your wonderful bus and take the motorways... they dodge Paris, it's quite easy to go to Le Mans this way...

Gave up the sea crossings a few years ago. Schedule for the last three years has been Gatwick Nantes return with Air France Wednesday 8am to Monday early evening and hire car from Nantes airport. Totally hassle free and we don't get stopped by the Gendarmes since we have a French number plate! This option has cost a little less than £75 each for the flights and £146 for a Megane sized car for this year. Have also flown into Paris but circumnavigating Paris from Charles de Gaulles airport can be a nightmare.

Speed Ferries on the Dover-Boulogne route were offering cheap fares, I booked up for LM for £50 return.

Flybe have a number of routes from Southampton to France. They don't fly all the routes every day but Southampton is certainly not too far from Lymington. May well be worth getting out le map de France Ayse and see how close you can get to Le Mans with them.

Note that Stanstead/Dinan by Easy Jet is cheap too... easy to rent a car in Dinan to go to Le Mans as well...

This is not valid from Australian, though...

If we except Paris-Charles de Gaulle (north of Paris), it's Cherbourg... not the best, but you already know the course, Ayse...

Beginning to feel a bit like a travel agent but here goes another option.

Don't know your planned dates but Stansted to Tours with Ryanair is currently a very reasonable £48.55 travelling out on the 15th and back on the 20th. The circuit is a leisurely 45 minutes drive north.

last year we caught the eurostar from waterloo, change at lille, then down to le mans. we got a hire car from the other side of the station. we caught the train back monday morning, it was a little early but meant no mad rush after the race...and we were able to have dinner in town on sunday night and jan lammers was at the next table. i love le mans!
