No it's not luck. The colour scheme is atrocious and Billy Oakes, the team owner and a lovely guy, needs a damn good kicking for not altering it !
Billy Oakes has 2 sons, Oliver and Jordan, who are both still karting. They will be old enough to move into cars in a year or two, by which time the Eurotek team should be ready and experienced. Tom Sisley, who has been around forever in FRenault and F3, is driving for them to get the data they need, and doing a really good job. Tom lives next door to Brands Hatch (his father owns Buckmore Park kart circuit) so knows Brands well and drives it well. Great for Tom, great for Eurotek and the Oakeses. Paul Di Resta, the other Eurotek driver, drove well too, by the way. Hyped a bit because Dario Franchitti is his cousin, and quick in his own right, but not a wild one, he's worth watching I think. Nice guy too, albeit tall. (No-one should be taller than 5'5") |

Eurotek are the old Mach 1 team run by Australian Marcus Koch, based in Attleborough, just next to Snetterton.
They ran in Formula Renault for several seasons with Jean de Pourtales, contesting both the UK and Eurocup series. The also participated in the first season of the new carbon fibre Formula Renault category in 2000, with Japanese TV star/model Keiko Ihara. 2001 was a disaster and in 2002 they failed to meet the entry deadline and missed out on one of the first 36 places going. Billy Oakes has come on board and helped put some serious funding into the team, re-badged Eurotek. The team have new workshops with driver accomodation including swimming pool and gym! The winter series was a sign they'd be in good shape this year, with Ben Clucas in particular proving strong at Brands Hatch. As with Firstair in the winter series, it's great to see another name at the front and a sign that this is a formulae where, when the set-up is right, it is possible to take on the established names and beat them fair and square with equal equipment. |
