I wonder which match will be shown on the big screens (I know the answer is probably neither), but I do recall the screens showing a dutch (?) match after the race a few years back.

The ACO have released the provisional schedule/timetable for Le Mans week 2010. It reveals further changes and breaks with tradition.............

Scrutineering moves from the car park behind the (now demolished) theatre to the Place du Jet d’Eau (the area on the North side of Place des Jacobins in front of the steps which come down from the cathedral).

And, instead of the straightforward 6 hours of continuous free practice on the Wednesday (as in 2009), there will be 4 hours of free practice from 16:00 to 20:00, a 2 hour break and then a 2 hour qualifying practice from 22:00 until midnight.

PROVISIONAL SCHEDULE

Monday 7 June
14:00 (Place du Jet d’Eau - Jacobins) Stewards’meeting
14:30 - 18:00 (Place du Jet d’Eau - Jacobins) Sporting Checks and Scrutineering

Tuesday 8 June
08:30 – 17:00 (Place du Jet d’Eau - Jacobins) Sporting Checks and Scrutineering

Wednesday 9 June
10:00 Team Managers’ briefing
11:00 Drivers’ briefing
16:00 – 20 :00 Free practice sessions 24 Heures du Mans
22 :00 – 24 :00 Qualifying practice sessions 24 Heures du Mans

Thursday 10 June
19:00 – 21:00 Qualifying practice sessions 24 Heures du Mans
22:00 – 24:00 Qualifying practice sessions 24 Heures du Mans

Friday 11 June
10:00 – 20:00 Pit Walk
18:00 – 19:00 Drivers' parade (City centre)

Saturday 12 June
09.00 - 09:45 Warm-Up 24 Heures du Mans
14:22 Beginning of starting procedure
15:00 Start of the 78th race of the 24 Heures du Mans

(No practice/qualifying/race schedule for the Group C's or FLM cars as yet.)

The earlier start for Wednesday will mean road closures just when I usually arrive in Le mans on Wednesday, but more action on the track so no complaints from me

Bit of an annoyance for those of us marshalling.

Gone are the days when you could take your time driving down the N routes on Wednesday morning, have a leisurely lunch, sign on and get some shopping in before the 6pm start.
Now it looks like a hash down the autoroute, (legal + a small margin only), sign on when you can (Wednesday provisionally open 2-7pm). To be trackside at 3pm for the first session starting at 4.

No longer possible unless you go down on Tuesday.
This could be my last one - depends how it goes.

Strong rumours (including, from what I've been told, an article in Le Maine Libre) have been building over the last few days suggesting the ACO are proposing to move scrutineering from it's traditional Monday/Tuesday slot to Sunday/Monday this year.

From what I can gather (and if the change is approved), scrutineering would be completed over a 3 day period (Sun/Mon/Tue) instead of 2. Seems this is more than just a bit of local PR, the logistics of carrying out the procedure in a far more confined space will have the knock on effect of slowing things down considerably.

L’Automobile Club de l’Ouest confirme qu’il a proposé, en fin d’année 2009, �* la Mairie du Mans l’organisation du pesage (*) des 24 Heures du Mans 2010 �* partir du dimanche 6 juin, après-midi. Ce projet permettrait �* de nombreuses personnes de profiter de cet évènement gratuit un jour de repos dominical et attirerait certainement un public important des départements voisins, voire de la région parisienne...

There were some reports in the local newspaper, translation is that this plan can permit a lot of people who live around le mans to access easier to this free event while the week end. Overall, it's a good deal for the traffic in Le mans because it will sit near the "jet d'eau" and not behind the old theater ( building works ) .

DSC said recently that The ACO "would like to" move scrutineering for the 24 Hours from Monday/Tuesday to Sunday (June 6th)/Monday.

But is also said that "Final confirmation of the dates is expected soon"

It also noted that the location for the scrutineering and administrative checks will be moving to the “Place du Jet d’Eau” in Le Mans for three years, due to large-scale redevelopment work on the Place des Jacobins."

True but the Le Mans' Mayor doesn't want the " Fruits, vegetables' market "that stays on the " Place du jet d'eau" on Wednesday, Friday an Sunday mornings to be removed.
