Could that put Butcher's seat in jeopardy for when they return to action?

If we thought TOCA was being bullish over getting in a full season, that's nothing to what Aussie Supercars are considering.
https://www.touringcartimes.com/2020...calendar-year/ They plan to get the season done whatever it take, even if that means continuing into next year. At least we can all look forward to the first round of this year's BTCC at the Mallory Plum Pudding meeting. |

As the chance to get all rounds in this year will become ever more chalenging, how about a combined 2020/2021 championship?
Four or five weekends this year and then the full 10 next year. Then start as normal for 2022? Just an idea.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wouldn’t mind them continuing into 2021, as long as you say it’s back to normal for 2022

Given Britain is on the same track as Italy concerning coronavirus, I doubt any scenario of making it 10 rounds in 2020 is feasible. Maybe a 20/21 campaign could be a possibility but what about the weather?

Yeah, I can well imagine it. But how would it be in December or February if the season ran from, say, November till June?

It's not just the weather over the winter months, it's the lack of daylight. There's no way you could squeeze in 3 BTCC races and all the support series before sunset.

I’m sure the night races weren’t that exciting back in the day, is it just the rose tinted glasses of how amazing super touring was

It certainly was an interesting experiment and I see no reason for it not to be given another try again

It may not have been needed with the series growing, but I feel that night racing wouldn’t be the worst idea. Why not run it on the Saturday and have two races as normal in the daytime on Sunday?

I also don’t understand the comment was that it’s too expensive to run night races. I have been to club events with night races, the Silverstone 24H event again, at night. I also went to a huge fireworks event in 2018 with some 10,000 people and that was all lit and had light stewarding. Last edited by Sodemo; 28 Mar 2020 at 18:41. |

Apart from people who sell and install industrial floodlights, who would benefit?
