Christijan Albers to test for Jordan

thesecretsource.com

Christijan Albers visited Jordan Grand Prix’s Silverstone factory this week for a seat fitting in preparation for a test with the team on December 1st at Jerez. In September, Albers postponed a scheduled test with the squad in order to focus on his DTM championship battle.

The 25-year-old Dutchman will begin Jordan’s first test session since the end of the 2004 season and the team will test for an additional three days in Jerez until December 4th.

B]This could start to close up the gap in the Jordan line up?[/B]

I've been wondering who Jordan are intending on fielding next year. So, Albers it to test. Is Glock still in the frame as I had an idea he had sufficient funding for a drive there?

There are still quite a few vacancies in F1 for 2005, as if I'm right there are 2 seats at Jordan, Red Bull and Minardi, plus that coveted Williams seat.

The early winter test sessions should make for some interesting findings.

Heidfeld may end up remaining at Jordan, but Glock is the most likely to be with them next year. At this stage it's quite open for the second drive, as with the Minardi ones, but it's quite possible that 4 inexperienced drivers will have those roles.

BBC Teletext has the likely Jordan lineup as Heidfeld and Glock, I guess that is the most likely scenario unless someone poaches Heidfeld.

Heidfeld/Glock would be a good pairing (though I'd rather Nick got the Williams seat, personally).

This is a little off-topic, but, assuming that Davidson gels with the Williams team and they are impressed with him on a personal level, I'd love to see him get a chance, although Nick would deserve it as well.

The only problem with Heidfeld and Glock as a lineup is that, as both are German, attracting international sponsors may be harder. Both are good drivers though, which is mroe than Minardi are likely to be able to claim about their lineup.

PlanetF1 have got a piece about Briscoe testing for Jordan too - presumably they've got to look at people in case Heidfeld gets the Williams seat.

That PlanetF1 article was a reprint of an article that appeared in the Herald-Sun newspaper in Melbourne. This is a tabloid paper (though nowhere near as bad as the English tabloids, so I'm led to believe) and their reporting of Briscoe's situation was very funny.

The first couple of paragraphs intimated that Briscoe was a stroke of a pen away from signing with Jordan, but if you read further down, it was basically Briscoe "in talks" with Jordan. Which doesn't advance the plot any because Briscoe has been "in talks" with Jordan for a few months now.

BTW, the PlanetF1 article on Klien driving for Red Bull quotes Mateschitz as saying that Coulthard basically has no chance of driving for Red Bull next year, contradicting what Tony Purnell said a couple of days ago.

Please accept my apologies - mistakenly posted this in the wrong thread. End of the day, and all that.

I think Albers may have privately been told that he will be running 2004 spec equipment in nest years DTM in order to make way for Hakkinen.

Having watched the DTM all year, I'd say alesi95's guess is an educated one, rather than random.

Schneider,Alesi and Paffett are too big to squeeze out of AMG. Besides sucess didn't keep Dumbreck in the team in 2002. Still just a guess though.

This test for the Jordan team was already decided this summer. At first the test was going to be in the DTM season but Albers wanted to focus only on the DTM so the test is now on 1 dec

True. But youre being naive. It isn't only talent that matters. Zsolt Baumgartner certainly was not in F1 because of his talent. With enough sponsor support Albers has a good shot at Jordan or Minardi. These both teams need the money to survive.

Then again : i have got my fingers crossed for Verstappen.

That's right it's all about the money if you look at the Minardi team all kind of young drivers get a test by Minardi but have to pay for it.That doesn't matter because the team need the money.

Albers is more worthy of a drive than Verstappen, IMO. Jos has had enough chances, Albers' chance might pass him by, and that would be a shame.

Jos has more talent in his toes than Albers has in his whole body.

Jos is like 35 now or something isnt he ?

Its fairly obvious that Jos will never win a race or a DC.

Your better of putting someone new in.

When it comes to a seat at Minardi, we all know that talent doesn't mean a thing. It's the money that talks.

Now if PS can get a driver who is talented AND has money, he will pick them. If all the talented drivers have no money, then his hand is forced to get a **** pay driver as he needs the cash to survive...

Shame that it is so, but it is so.

So which talented drivers have money?

I dont think it has always been the case at Minardi. I dont think Alonso or Webber came to Minardi with big loads of cash. Nor do i think last year the italian bloke came to minardi with a lot of cash.

I think the majority of Minardi funding in recent years has come through Yoong and more recently Baumgartner.
