Looking at these dates it appears that either the Canadian GP or both the USGP & the Canadian GP will be on different weekends than the previous two years.
I might need to change some reservations. |

I'd imagine Canada/US will be 28th May/4th June, unless we're doing a Canada/USA/Mexico sweep on the three consecutive weekends - 18/25 June and 2 July.

Ok - that makes me sure the three consecutive dates are a sweep of "The Americas".

5 back to back weekends from what I've counted - thats got to be pretty tough on the teams.
Also, if KB is correct about his Americas prediction, is it logistically possible to transport everything from Monaco on the 28th May to Canada/USA/Mexico a week later ? Australia / Melbourne - haven't they got the Commonwealth games on so maybe Malaysia will start the season ? |

No, the "American" dates are the 18th and 25th of June and the 2nd of July.

I have to say, I think the F1 and WRC calendars are becoming far too swollen.
I think F1 should be limited to a maximum of 17 events, ideally 16 events per season. You can have too much of a good thing. Still, anything to get another bland, faceless Tilkering in the calendar! |

Australia defintiely won't start the season - Malaysia, Bahrain, China, Australia to open the season was the popular rumour a while back, so we'll see if that's wht it comes to. KB's notion of the North American jaunt sounds sensible, but there's a pretty big doubt over the Mexican race now.

USA is for sure July 2, because of the holiday and they will want to "give back" for what they have done this year.

I'd swap round Brazil and Japan - it's good to have the last race on prime time TV for Europe

The word here (in Oz) is that the AGP is April 2, one week after the closing ceremony of the Comm Games (woftam that is!) It would be good to see the AGP moved, as per touringlegend's calender, to the 16th.

A USGP at Indy in 06 is by no means a lock right now.
You cannot underestimate Tony George's anger with F1, and his embarresment by this years GP. He is like Bernie when it comes to having control, and that race was entirely out of his control. He is unlikely to ever let that happen again. Bernies loss of control over F1 could also adversly affect their relationship. I'm also quite sure that George cannot be happy that the massive job of handing out the Michelin refunds to 120,000+ fans, and the 20,000 ticket give-aways have fallen on his shoulders. He could very well decide to put his IRL on the track. |

Oh yeah. Well, he would at least have to appreciate the $120+ million that F1 brings to the city every year. If he gets too bold, I am sure he will be receiving phone calls from someone...and it will not be Bernie.

Mabs - there's no way that the US GP and the British Grand Prix would be just one week apart.

The problem with all of you is your schedule predictions are all wrong. You have applied logic and logistics to the race order. Remember now this is the FIA we’re talking about here; so with Max’s cost cutting measures in mind here is the tentative schedule.
Mind you the OFFICIAL schedule will not be announced until September of 2006… 12 March - Malaysia 19 March - USA 02 April - Australia 16 April - Brazil 30 April- Spain 14 May - Canada 28 May - Monaco 04 June - Mexico 18 June - France 25 June - Japan 02 July - Germany 16 July - Bahrain 06 August - Europe 27 August - China 10 September - Belgium 17 September – Brazil (again, just for the heck of it) 01 October – Italy 15 October - Turkey 22 October – Great Britain San Marino has been cancelled to punish Ferrari for their lack of complicity in the USGP fiasco. If the USGP is cancelled; Ferrari will have to drive the San Marino circuit on Michelin tires through a hastily built chicane for no points. |

I'm sure the team logistics departments will be pushing for that! |
