Well that was a pleasant surprise, the forecast leading up to the day was not the best, but it ended up being nice sunny, warm and dry with not a hint of snow!

There were definitely less in attendance than previous years, only 4 historic F1's and 2 Lmp's tho one of those was the 2002 Daytona 24hr winner. Also there for its first shakedown and test was a Nissan R91CP, the last time she ran was Daytona 1992!

Anyway here's my vid from the days action if any interested:

Interesting contrasts in gear changing in Historic F1 , with some real amateur hour stuff along with examples of how it should be done. Even on a video , the body language of the approaching car tells you what to expect . It was Michael Lyons, I think , who looked most on it - as usual ?

We have a few UK F1's that made the trip downunder for the Phillip Island Classic this weekend.... that might explain the fewer numbers in that category at your end.
Im looking forward to seeing them.

Those here are listed in this promo for the event, https://vhrr.com/wp/phillip-island/

I hear that sadly the Lotus F1 of Steve Boultbee-Brooks suffered a terminal engine failure in early practice. He has a Lola T70 entered as well.

Yea that would explain why there were a few missing, hopefully they all enjoy their trip with no more mechanical failures. Might also explain why they are missing from the Masters race weekend at Donington start of April as it be a tough ask getting back from Down Under and re-preped in such short time.

It was really noticeable standing track side who was on top of their driving, Michael Lyons as always was spot on and great to watch and hear. Werner D'Ansembourg was driving the Williams FW07 and it was his first ever time driving it so was getting used to it, just a bit more practice needed on gear changes.
