1000HP should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
McLaren or Williams better?

If kimi didn't make all those unneeded pits, I'm sure he would be up there in 3rd spot!
The battle for second spot in the costructors championship has turned on in recent GPs as William and McLaren found them selves battling it out...
Who do you reckon will get 2nd spot at the end of the season?

I feel that JPM will make the difference in the 2nd place fight. Williams IMO will keep second buy not by very much.

Williams will get 2nd in constructors, McLaren are too far behind.

McLaren would well steal 3rd in drivers from Montoya.

I hardly think Kimi would have beaten JPM. He would probably have been 4th though - I think he drove exceptionally well today, showing Ralf the door quite easily.

2nd in the constructors will be Williams. There are several tracks left on the calendar which should suit the Williams, and they already have a healthy gap to McLaren (much due to Kimi's seemingly never ending mechanical problems ). Williams are also best in qualifying of the two, which gives them an advantage already from the start of the races.

Fight for 2nd in the drivers' standings will be between Rubens and JPM.

Gotta give it to you R - you're the King of wishful thinking

I think Kimi would have easily passed Montoya had Mclaren not made a mess of his race. As far as who finishes 2nd or 3rd in the championship - my money's on Rubens 2nd and Ralf 3rd..that is if Williams can finally get his fuel rigs right. Strange how all the bad luck this season has gone towards Ralf....

:megalaugh: :cough: Ahem... funnily enough, but Pablo who got "4 in a row" said that "I DECIDED TO CALL THE TEAM TO JUST BACK OFF THE SHIFTING TO SAVE THE ENGINE A BIT".

He broke his unfortunate "3 in a row serie". Not that those actions might be anyway related....

Yes, but after 3 consecutive engine failures, wouldn't you?

Yes, he's learning. He's also learned that a 3rd place brings more points than defending at all cost and even though I believe that Rubens and Pablo touched wheels they both remained on track.

For now, Williams will be the 2nd in the Championship. McLaren is 3rd, what is a "bad" result but they performed some better that it showed at first races of this season.

If Macs produce a bit more reliability they will beat Williams, but the way it is now, Williams has better chances.

Oh my... where to start in this thread?

King of wishful thinking I may be, but if "mr. four times in a row pole position" keeps up the kind of performance we saw yesterday, there is no way Ralf will beat him in the final standings - that is, if "luck" is evenly distributed among the two for the remaining part of the season. Ralf most certainly has been unlucky with the screwed up pit stops in Canada and Britain, but I also think Montoya's blown engine in Monaco and Canada - and his unfair penalty in Malaysia - qualifies as "bad luck". And Montoya was on pace for far better placings than Ralf was when "bad luck" struck on those occasions.

As for the "saving the engine" comment... that was probably a wise decision, seeing as he couldn't catch Rubens, and there certainly was no threat from behind. Btw, he "only" had two engine failures in a row - the race before this at the Nurburgring, he had tyre problems, remember, which unfortunately caused him to collide with David Coulthard.

I thought that Raikonnen was the man of the race, but as for passing Montoya easily, I don't think so. I don't think anybody finds it easy to pass Montoya.
As for who comes second in the WCC, I think it really comes down to the teams and not the drivers. The driver lineups between these two teams are to evenly matched IMO. I think the Macs are sporting the better chassis at the moment, but that BMW engine is much stronger than the Mercedes. That is all speculation of course, but when push comes to shove I think the BMW HP will take second for Williams.

I find the "saving my engine" comment to be the funny one...after all, last year when Ralf said the same thing, all the die-hard Montoya fans were jumping up and down, whinin, and cryin, and moanin' - but now the shoes on the other foot isent it

If short shifting, and using low revs is indeed being accepted as "savng an engine" then all the Monty fans should be munching on some nice, warm humble pie - since thats exactly what Ralf did last year

As for bad luck this season...I think Ralf's had more of it but he still has a race win to his credit and if his team can get through a race without screwing him over then he should have had more points by now. Simple as that.
