SJ Spode should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
If this year's Championship was run under the old points system

Now that we're around halfway through the season, here's how the title race would look if the old points system were still in use. (Actual 2003 position in brackets)

1. Gronholm 30 pts (3rd)
2. Sainz 28 pts (2nd)
3. Burns 25 pts (1st)
4. Solberg 21 pts (4th)
5. Loeb 17 pts (6th=)
6. Martin 15 pts (5th)

(NB: I did the calcs very quickly, so apologies in advance if there's errors)

It seems to show that the old system rewarded winners better.

Well, Richard Burns won the championship under the old points system with 1 win in 2001 - maybe that wasn't lucky after all?
