Wet tyres ??
Please, excuse my ignorence, but ... can drivers changes the Wet-tyres or do they have to last the whole race ???

You can change wets as many times as you want, if the race is declared wet. You can also change from wet to drys or drys to wets as much as you want, again if the race is declared wet.

Declared wet? Does that mean that the stewards can dictate when you are allowed to use wets? Because correct me if i am wrong but in club racing etc you can use which ever tyres you think are best for the conditions

I think even in club racing control has to declare a wet track before you can use rain tyres.
It's definitely so in F1 - until race control has officially declared a wet track then you can't change to wets. But Adam - during this changing from dry to wet to dry as much as you like you can only use the one set of dries, right? |

Yes, even a club race is declared wet. There are many rules which depend on this (number of warm up laps for one). As for the specific tyre regs, just like F1 it depends on the series. Some allow you to run pretty much any tyre, some any tyre from a list and some a single kind of tyre for all conditions.
Don't worry, as mentioned in the linked thread, declaring a wet race will not ever be used in a bad way - the race officials will have no influence. If conditions require wets it will be declared wet. If not then they can't use wet tyres - although they aren't suitable to a dry track anyway. It closes comedy loopholes that people get all worked up about! Yes, Logrence, you have to go back to your old dries. |

yeh cheers there....i never realised that with some club series as well.....we have 2 different tyres in sports 2000....one wet one dry....run whichever you wish (well thats what we have always done!)
