dcp2685 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
A European Grand Prix in 2006

Hi Y'all.

My Fiancee and I have recently gotten engaged and are planning our wedding for sometime in Spring/summer 2006 and for our honeymoon were thinking about hitting up Europe. When asked what I would like to do, my response was of course to see a race!

So my questions is which venue would be good (not that they aren't all good) but one that's just a little more special and why.

I think we're looking at staying in either Switerland or Germany.

Thanks in advance.

Congratulations .

Now, i've never actually been there, but from what i've heard, Spa has just got a little something more to it. Otherwise, maybe Monza, that's got a lot of history to it, or Monaco, which is the double-ex GP - EXtravagant and EXpensive .

Got to be Monaco I would have thought for a romantic weekend. Please avoid Switzerland as racing is stil illegal there. All fans should boycott that country until this is changed.

I have visited in Magny-Cours, Silverstone, Nürburgring and Hungaroring.

Magny-Cours is very nice venue though races there haven't been very good lately. I had good places there (nearest corner was Chateau d'Eau)

When I was at Silverstone it was wet which made it look worse than it really is. It is historic venue and I think there are more support classes than anywhere else in Europe.

In Nürburgring there were some crazy Schumacher fans (and Schumacher won when I was there), but otherwise it was a good. During GP weekend it isn't possible to drive around the Nordschleife.

Hungaroring wasn't very good, but Budapest city is nice.

There is only one place to go for a great weekend in the Spring and that is Barcelona. Want a list of the reasons why its good for a honeymooning race fan ?

1) Its cheap. You'll need to be saving money for babies, so forget Monaco.
2) Its a beautiful city, take your bird to see the Sagrada Familia and she'll love you forever.
3) Fantastic clothes and especially shoe shops, she'll love you even more.
4) Tapas Bars. No explanation needed.
5) Rent a suite at the Avenida Palace - a weekend there will cost you less than a pair of Monaco race tickets.
6) Unbelievably stunning Spanish girls - perhaps not the best reason for you - but..wow.
7) There is a Grand Prix. Lots of team personnel love the city as it does not come alive until 10pm by which time they have finished work. I got absolutely wrecked with a whole bunch of guys from Michelin and Honda on the Saturday night, so much so that I woke up in bed, still dressed at midday on the Sunday - very nearly missed the race !

I think I've sold it to myself again,

Rob

Congratulations
I would strongly recommend Monaco. I was there two years ago and Iam going back this year......What a place..WOW. You will never get as close to the cars at any other circuit as you do at Monaco and the noise WOW again it is really just something else. I have been lucky to have been to alot of GP,s and as far as i am concerned Monaco is the most incredible race weekend I have ever been to.

Eh!?

Both the Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring are in Baden-Württemberg, by far the most picturesque area of Germany...I'd suggest you and the new missus hire a car or whatever and find yourself a B&B in a small village down Black Forest way...it might be a bit of a drive to the race circuits, but it's wonderful landscape.

Wait a mo, I was wrong. The Nürburgring isn't in BW, so don't go there.

The fact that my salary is paid by the state of Baden-Württemberg has nothing to do with this post.

Thanks guys. Truly much appreciated. I was thinking of either the European Grand Prix or Hockenheim and Germany in general. If "BW" is indeed nice, we'll definately look into it.

Thanks again.

Spa Francorchamps

end of thread as far as I'm concerned

although going back on that, If you have £100 000 to burn Monaco might be good, but lets face it your not exactly going to get value for money OR a good view who ever you are

There is a possiblilty that things may change next year in the layout of the calendar. Many European GP have been skewed to earlier in the year due to details that are unimportant here. In addition The European GP flits between Spring and Autumn too.
