schuey01 - do you have any opinions on anything? I've never seen you post anything other than a poll.

Incidentally Michelin and Goodrich are the same company.

Kirk has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Why would they want to switch to Michelin at this time? Bridgestone are designing a tire, in essence, exclusively for Ferrari (who are running away with the WDC and constructors championships); Michelin, while doing an excellent job, are somewhat stretched to satisfy the other top teams. Both manufacturers have strong and weak points but unless Michelin's performance advantage proves to be the only choice, Ferrari will remain status quo.

I don't think this needs a poll!

Kirk sums it up well.

In fact, it's more likely that movement will occur the other way, with some Michelin teams looking to Bridgestone, with Toyota and Williams rumoured as two possibilities.

Honda allegedly didn't want BAR to switch to Michelins, they have a 'relationship' with Bridgestone going back years, and even share some of the same directors I believe.

The big BUT is that it's all a bit of a gamble, as the ebb and flow of they tyre development 'war' is that one is slightly ahead, the other makes up ground, then the other moves ahead again.

Plus the relationship that Ferrari have with Bridgestone, always leaves the feeling that other teams will not get the same level of commitment, whether that is true or not.

A while back Pirelli were rumoured to be looking at an F1 comeback, with Ferrari linked to them, but the uncertainty over the new regulations makes it unlikely, although I think it will end up with two tyre makers still in F1 in the end.

I certainly hope we end up with 2 tire makers in the end, none of this 'control tire' business...

Ferrari will stay with Bridgestone as long as they are completely dedicated to their cause.

Heh!

I'm bemused as to why people are voting for BF Goodrich!

It's a subsiduary of Michelin, so we can assume all votes cast are for Michelin!

Can't see a reason why Ferrari would want to change anything in their package at this point... With their current run of success, they will certainly not be looking to change their tyremaker for 2005.

From K-b's link, click on About Michelin and The Group, then search for Goodrich in the search box on the right of the screen...

I think the first one just searches the UK & Ireland site, following the above searches the entire Michelin site...

BF Goodrich is definitely a Michelin brand.

Maybe schuey01's really confused and meant to type Bridgestone...?

One completely irrelevant sidetrack - I thought Kleber was a Bridgestone brand, but it ain't, it's Michelin!
