F1 2010 (Codemasters)
I'm surprised there isn't a topic on this already...!
So, as we know, Codemasters now have the F1 liscence from Studio Liverpool and I must say, i'm now quite happy with that. I was a little dubious at first, but actually, their attention to detail tends to be really good. My main worry is that it's using the Ego (I think?) engine that's been used for most Codey sims. It's a good engine, but I hope it isn't just a rehash of GRID/DIRT ie Has the arcadey option of rewinding etc.. There's been about 3 pictures released thus far, yet I can only seem to find 2: Here is a list of the features:
So, what do we think then? Selby |

At first I was worried about Codemasters getting the exclusive F1 license, as I have thoroughly enjoyed Studio Liverpool's F1 series (particularly F106). But, from what I've heard, it sounds like they're doing a serious effort at making it a "sim" (eg. laser-scanned tracks, rubber build up, drying line). I just hope it doesn't come out around the same time as GT5!

It's out on Wii & PSP first, which is quite odd (the Wii version can come with a wheel that the remote slots into). There's some videos with Antony Davidson describing on board laps on the official website. Looks like standard F1 fare but nice to be able ti drive the new circuits (Valencia, Singapore & Abu Dahbi)

F1 09 is a completely seperate game, which tbh, is a bit of a rush-job in comparison to F1 10.
F1 09 is developed by Sumo (?) and is exclusively out on the Wii and PSP. The graphics obviously arn't much to write home about, and it overall just looks a little sketchy. F1 2010 is by Codemasters and will be released early next year, based on the 2009 season (I believe). This is what the screenshots are from. Selby |

If they can pull off what they are quoting in that list then I would be mightily impressed!
At least they know how to make games so I hope they can do it. But the cynic in me says I'll believe when I see it! Quote:

Good grief, I can't see how the game will be released at the "start of 2010" based on the 2010 season!
I heard elsewhere that it will be based on the 2009 season... Selby |

That would be more appropriate, then
Sorry, I must have heard this provisional date some time ago now. There's just an apparent lack of information on this project available. Selby |

Codemasters know how to make a polished game so fingers crossed for this one Racing fans are gonna be spoilt in the next 12 months FM3, GT5 and F1 2010, i feel a year off work coming!! |

Really looking forward to the new F1 2010, how did you guys rate the current (if you can call it that anymore) F1 Game?
Hoping it's based on 2010 rather than 2009 as the KERS option would make it rather easy i feel, once you had your chassis set-up right that is. |

I found this Abu Dhabi trailer. it's for the 2009 Wii-version.
couldn't they just have sent someone to the track to check some stuff out? http://www.gametrailers.com/video/ab...-f1-2009/58573 |

But technically, your car should be slower in other parts due to the KERS weight
Could be really interesting. I love the idea of using KERS on an F1 game. Selby |

Don't forget that they could release an F1 game based on 2010 at the start of 2010, and then update the game (a la the FIFA series and the January transfer window) as driver changes; livery changes et all occur on the online marketplaces available on the consoles.

They're doing that with the new MotoGP game, which is aptly named "MotoGP 09/10". I think it'd be a good idea, but saying this, I think they also want to make more money

Well FIFA player/team updates are free. I doubt they will charge for updated liveries or driver rosters.

Is there a release date yet???
I have had a little play on the Wii F1 2009, its not bad on a par with the last f1 game that coem out on Ps2 IMO. Overall not a bad game for a system such as the Wii i expect F1 2010 on PS3 to totally destroy it however. |

And no, I still don't think there is a release date as of yet. I'm guessing they're just waiting until the cars are released, so they can then update their models. Selby |

Yeah Codies are staying pretty tight lipped about this one. The fact that they outsourced the development of 2009 to Sumo and just concentrated for an extra year on the big boys version bodes well I think!
My expectations are set somewhere a bit above "GRID". To be honest GRID was loads of fun, so even if it plays like that but with shiny F1 cars I will be happy enough. If I want a simulation I can always boot up rFactor! I am hopeful, however, that it will be significantly more.....F1-y then GRID was! |

Yeh this is what i'm expecting. Just a bit of a GRID rehash with some moments of simulation.
That's not to say i'm not excited, because I am Just be nice to use all the teams/tracks. Selby |
