It was extremely anoying getting up at 2-3:00am to watch it delayed especially concidering they could have easily shown all or most races live and they had the exclusive rights. Champ Car are saying that Ch10 have coverage for the 2007 season...wonder if its real (and they haven't announced it, which lets face it, is on form for these guys) or not...time will tell...

I wouldnt be surprised if channel 7 did have the irghts to the champcar series but cant be bothered showing the races,how that the got the AFL back,nothing else matters to them,just hope we DO get the races on espn this year.

Has anyone got race director? is it a streaming set up or can you download a file to convert to watch on a tv ? IM assuming you dont have to watch the races live ?

I have Race Director.

yes it is a streaming set up , you can watch the races Live or whenever you want through the archive section.

If you miss a race on monday morning you can easilly watch the race again on Monday night through archives.

It really is a neat set up and I would recommend it to anyone.

as for capturing it , I dont know about that and its something we here at ten Tenths do not want to get involved with as it is a copyright issue and we do not condone that type of thing (but that doesnt mean that someone who has seen your post cant help you out in PM )

At this stage peter it would seem no one is covering this weekends event.

in the lastest guide neither channel 7 or channel 10 have the race listed for sunday or monday nights , neither does ESPN of Pay TV.

it's official at this stagge there will be no coverage of the Champcars on either TEN, Seven or Pay TV.
Gold Coast organisers said that they had heard nothing and quite frankly as far as Champcar is concerened they have bigger problems than Australian TV to worry about.
I havent used Race Director but the Atlantic streaming is pretty good and at least last year it was free.
BTW IRL has Indy Pro and IRL qualifying live at most events and it was pretty reliable although the pro IRL-anti everything else commentary was really annoying at St Pete.
There is live audio from IRL as well as of course ALMS. Oh that we here in Australia could be that pro-active.

what a joke, ccws are useless. Im surprised foxtel hasnt jumped at the rights, tho im sure there is a reason they havent, just not sure what. who owns the right for the oz race?

now Ryan , this is not Champcars fault at all.

Channel 7 will show the australian race that is guarenteed , but that does not mean they have the rights or the rest of the year.
From what I can gather is that Channel 10 still hold the rights but have decided to not show the races (kinda like the world superbike thing they had going , we will hold the rights so no one else gets them but not show the races)

I feel you may see some kind of highlights package on channel 10 during the year , but its certainly not champcars fault one bit

Another frustrated aussie here. Will Power getting pole is both awesome and painful, I can't believe the pathetic state of Australian TV, it's embarrassing. As soon as Ch10 got their act together and started showing F1 qualifying we get shafted on Champ Car by Ch7. One step forward two steps back. Race Director is SERIOUSLY tempting me. I'd kill for any other way to watch the race, it doesn't have to be live I just want to see it without knowing the results beforehand. I'm a huge fan of Will Power and watched every race last year.

For Melbourne viewers we'll have news highlights package on In Pit Lane on April 17. This week it's the Sebring 12 hour with Audi and the Sandown Easternats.

I've done abit of searching around the net about this issue, and ive read that espn have done a deal with ccws. I also read that espn will be showing it from the third round, but this is unconfirmed so i guess we'll just have to wait and see in round three in texas.

I think its time we the australian champcar fans should start a petition for whoever has the rights to the series to broadcast the race,esspecially if Power continue his performance and start winning more races and look like to become the first aussie to win the CHAMPIONSHIP.

Ahhh I just went and bought Race Director in time for quali - it cost me $33 and I think I have already got my money's worth...

To get the full benefit, it does mean a few early mornings but otherwise you get the tv feed and see the race...I am happy with it and now I don't have to worry about such TV debarcles any more

I signed up as well - maybe it's just the Optus cable but the stream cuts in and out for me. Having to resort to downloading the stream and watching it offline... for a 1.5Gb file, the quality is... hmm... watchable?!
