Harness Bars

The latest MSA magazine has rule changes for January 2012.

They have defined the dimensions of harness bars K 1.1.12 & 1.3.9 as being minimum 38mm steel.

The question I have is the diagram a bit later on in section K does not show a harness bar on the cage at all, not even in the maximum options allowable.....

So is it ok for the harness bar to be across the C pillars of the car, attached to the seat belt anchorage points?

Or must it be as K.1.1.12 infers on the main hoop or backstays, in which case why isn't it shown on the maximum configuration for a cage????

Any scrutineers out there?

I read that to mean if you use part of the cage as a harness bar it must meet the set criteria. You can still use other mounting points as before providing they meet the neseccary requirements. On my roll bar it had the shoulder straps mounted to a one inch square bar which I changed for a length of 50mm roll cage tube.

I was wondering something similar, but also if the harness bar was going to be mandatory or an option as it didnt seem clear to me.

Am currently using eyebolts in the manufacturers seatbelt locations which has served me fine for the last 10 years, do i have to suddenly find the right specification bar and some welding before next season!?

Harness bars are an addition to the regs, read K2.1.1 to 2.1.5 h Bolting to the chassis is still allowed
