Jaguar....when will they learn?
After seeing Malcolm Oastler doing, frankly, a bad job at BAR for 4 years, someone at Jaguar, in their ultimate wisdom has decieded to hire him, i thought that Jaguar wanted to progress up the ladder not down!
from www.f1-live.com According to reports coming out of Belgium this weekend, former British American Racing designer Malcolm Oastler is set to join the Jaguar team on Monday. The Australian will go to the Milton Keynes based squad to fill the role of Engineering Director after being out of work most of the season. Oastler was one of the causalities of the BAR outfit when they restructured the team back in March, the 43 year old dismissed from Brackley after four years of service to make way for ex-Williams man, Geoff Willis. |

David Richards makes a smart move and has a good clear out at BAR and puts it all in the bin .
The Rat must have been going through the bins one day in the Alley behind the BAR pit and thought ..oooo i could use that !.... Last edited by Sato san; 31 Aug 2002 at 06:27. |

Neil Oatley designed the 1995 McLaren, Oastler designed the CART Reynards from 1994 to 1998

Thank you Jordi. Didn't think that Oastler was in F1 before 1999.

Oastler May produce a beauty of a car for all we know , but Nikki does seem to be clutching at straws a bit.
good to see the run well today though . |

Oastler may be like Zanardi, prefers the slicks and the turbos of CART...

Bizarre move by Jaguar. Oastler never produced a good BAR chassis, and seeing how awful the Jaguar has been, are they expecting him to do any better?
Well, good luck to them. |

But maybe compared to the normal pace of a Jag , the BAR is a front running car .

After designing a couple of duds, he should have a good handle on what not to do. The team he is joining has had so little recent success, that all of their personnel should also be well versed in what they should not do. So together, under the guidance of the benevolent St. Nik, they now have the foundation to no longer do the wrong thing. I applaud the forward thinking of Mr Lauda.
