I laughed when I saw those doors... quite a bit more bulkier than what the current LMPs have.

Mclaren is switching from Mercedes to Honda engines in Formula 1. This means 1 lucky F1 team will get the chance to takeover the engine supply from Mercedes AMG who is at maximum capacity. If Ferrari take up this option, and shutter their mediocre F1 engine program, they could free up resources for a Le Mans prototype.
And no, that should not be read with a straight face |

Why Ferrari has to buy an engine from a competitor, let alone came from Mercedes, a German manufacturer? I don't think they'll grab that offer since they'll lose their national pride.

The day Ferrari use an engine other than a Ferrari is the day you will no longer see a Ferrari.

It would be cheaper, upwards of 30 million cheaper per season for Ferrari to run Mercedes engines, gearboxes, and KERs...Just enough to sustain a decent LMP1 team!
Honda and Renault would still be around. |

THey rather lose than going with different manufacturer engine. Not just bulkier, but forbiden to. Current rules dont allow such doors and overall the concept is something that wouldnt work and its on 2013 rules. |

Has Domenicali completely left Ferrari? Bahrain GP was just a week before he resigned.

As far as I know he has no sportscar experience (some DTM before moving to Ferrari and I think that's it). I doubt this is the man anyone would want leading their brand-new LMP project. |

With all the bull that follows Ferrari f1 I would rather they stayed away from a P1 program.
Can you imagine the hyperbole and nonsense they would bring into an area of Motorsport that is by comparison to F1 open and easy going. A Ferrari p1 could kill the WEC because the fia would need to kill it to ensure F1 remains the 'top' formula, any growth in wec popularity would threaten that. Personally I would prefer an Alfa or Maserati program. |

If they ran every 2 weeks then maybe itd threaten f1, but not now. Even if Ferrari and Mercedes joined, with only 8 races, its not for the casual fan imo. F1 is safe with its 19, 20 race calendar.

I don't think their is a conspiracy from the FIA. Why can't people be fans of both? Fans aren't being stolen...They are learning to like and appreciate all types of motorsport.

I do have a question about all this, if you were going to consult astrological tables for an answer on all this, would you calculate the Ferrari astrological sign based on Enzo's birth sign, or the date of Ferrari's formation as a constructor? If Jupiter is rising, I think we know the outcome.... Last edited by skycafe; 27 Jun 2014 at 23:37. Reason: typing madness |

19-20 races that are an hour long vs 7 6 hour races and a 24 hour race, WEC is for a completely different type of motorsport enthusiast, one with a long attention span and a focus on the technology....not the driver....F1 is safe no matter what WEC does.
