Alpha Charlie 6 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Brscc

I am considering of joining the BRSCC as a marshal, but I am told there are some problems within this club.

Can anyone give me any guidance.. and is there any other club I can join to marshal at brands hatch?

Alphan Charlie 6 welcome to Ten-Tenths.

First of all let me say there are not really any major problems with the BRSCC.

The BRSCC and BARC are the two clubs that organise the majority of the meetings at Brands Hatch however, you do not have to be a member of either club in order to marshal their events.

If you are looking to join any club in connection with marshalling, may I recommend you join the British Motorsports Marshals Club (BMMC) who represent marshals on a national basis. The BMMC have a website which gives useful information and can be found at: www.marshals.co.uk or, you can send me a private message for more details.

Welcome to the world of marshalling, I hope that like me, you have many happy years enjoying your hobby.

Stephen.

I resigned from BRSCC last year after 15 years of membership. As a Black X I wasn't happy with some of the politics at the 'senior grades' end of the Club. I guess all perceptions are personal and, like Stephen, I know people who either love or loathe BRSCC-SE in equal measure. As for me, I wouldn't cross the road for the BRSCC whereas I find BARC extremely good. I guess the answer is to give BRSCC a try for a year, though that's an expensive option. BMMC is always a good bet.

BARC also have a stamp system where you can pay your next years membership fee from. So if you do enough meetings it's free membership... always handy... Can't comment on BRSCC and yet to see what I get get for my money from BMMC.

The BRSCC also have a system where days marshalling count towards reduced membership. Plump for the BMMC is my advice.

What are you expected to give?? I'm a bit wary about this as we are going off thread. Also its not particularly good to expose someone who has started a thread asking for advice and assistance to interclub infighting.

despite the odd moan here & there, I would recommend the BMMC. This Club represents MARSHALS and Marshals alone, whereas the BRSCC/BARC and other clubs run marshalling clubs as a seperate arm, if you like.
Several Marshals will be members of more than one club - this really has no benefit to what you can or cannot do in terms of marshalling, it'll just cost you an arm & a leg!!!

But, as the guy on blind date used to say "The Descision Is Yours"

Welcome Alpha Charlie 6, to both Ten-Tenths and marshalling.

Being a club mmeber is a bit like " pay your money (lots) and take your choice (not much)"

I agree with Stephen, go with BMMC. They will be able to give you a complete list of next years meetings for all the big clubs. Also their insurance is better than the MSA, tho' all clubs have to provide MSA insurance when you sign on.

Do a few meetings and talk to other marshals, you will soon get a feel for where you want to go.

Good luck, and

Agree Dave. It does seem a rather strange question to ask originally given the profile and experience.
