pink69 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Yamaha

After 3 rounds of the BSB, Virgin Yamaha are struggling to say the least! 3 good riders and its rare that you see them in the top 10, let alone challenging for podiums and victories! Whats gone wrong?? Plater was fighting with the lead privateer at Brands for position! I don't think they've gone backwards but the others can't have moved on that much more surely!

I'm not sure Plater is really one fo the ebst riders out ther,e but you're right that the team should be higher up on paper. Maybe the bike just isn't suited to the series right now - Superbikes have been largely lead by Ducati, Honda and Suzuki in recent years.

Problem for Yam is I think that htey have arrived at the big bore party very late with a bike that isn't good enough.
The original R1 was around before the new 1000cc rules came in so was not strictly designed for racing, that was the R7.
Plater is good enough in my opinion, it is just the bike is doing nothing right now. Yamaha quite rightly are devoting all their time to the M1 and the huge talent they have employed to ride it.
Might be interesting if they can persuade him to ride it at the 8H, then you might see some development

The R1 can't be that bad.... they are leading the European Super Stock Championship taking 1st and 2nd at the first 2 rounds of the series at Valencia and Misano.

But then I guess thats not Superbike. Superstock is what Superbike should be, not Ducati's rules, real bikes, not race bikes.... thats what MotoGP is for.

Here

I think in AMA Yamaha are putting a lot of effort into Superstock and the bike is doing well.
Problem is over here that Honda and Suzuki are putting a lot of effort in and Yamaha are basically providing support rather than development. Virgin seem unable to get there so far but give them time.
