A bit of a strange event this one, races either far too short or too long. The SC didn't help either and even cutting short races shorter wasn't my idea of great races.
DMN, TTRS and Caterhams did their best; the weather and other race didn't. As I was observing at Sheene (my first ever on the GP loop, usually I'm glued to the Indy track) you could easily tell the men from the boys. Some very strange racing lines as well sometimes. Good to see you out Gordon, hope everything improves very soon. |

Think I'd be in the latter category when it comes to Sheene; it's completely blind when approaching and every time went through there it was like, doh! - should have gone through quicker you wus. |

The longer circuit didn't shuffle the DMN pack quite as much as I'd expected to be honest, the racing seemed more subdued than usual though - people seemed to get into groups and stay there nose to tail with not as many overtakes as usual. But it has to be said that everyone did really well in the second race - conditions looked "tricky" to say the least! |

[QUOTE=BertMk2;2513827]Agree with that totally. It's the first time I've ever gone to sleep at a race meeting - that SPEED stuff is seriously dull.
The longer circuit didn't shuffle the DMN pack quite as much as I'd expected I dont no class b, c. and d had several surprises. Those alphas seem mighty quick. Eddy and the rest of the marshalls did i fine job in those very wet conditions. i now got to go and repair my slipping clutch. |

I didn't stick around long after our race but can't imagine 3 hours of that would be anyone's cup of tea. But, I must admit if I had the money its the kind of thing I'd like to do and I guess its all funded by the drivers/teams so really its up to them what they do with their money and how long they want their races. Does seem unfair on the Marshals though..
Eddie, very nice to meet you yesterday... thanks for coming to find me. I must admit when you aproached me I thought I was in trouble for something... so it was an extra nice surprise! |

All looked like pretty much normal service to me as far as the usual suspects are concerned. Porter ahead of Brent was probably the only real difference I'd have thought. The Escorts were nicely bunched in class D and looked to be pushing each other along quite well.
Yep, the intelopers were quite impressive, Lewis' car in particular sounded glorious and carried a lot of speed through Hawthorns and Westfield. |

Tom, good to meet you at last, your a hard man to find sometimes. Maybe because as soon as you see a guy in orange you think you've done something wrong. |

Can't knock the SPEED series. IF they hadn't been there, the rest of us wouldn't have had a race on the GP track. Last edited by johnw; 2 Aug 2009 at 14:40. |

I meant as opposed to being "guests". The Alfas were certainly very quick and well sorted.

Be intresting to see if Lee Penn and Garth porter enter any more rounds!
I was surprised to see James Lidridge second in class on the first race and Bill Richards second in class in both races. |

aha, our doughnut benefactor reveals himself.
Thanks Eric, they went down nicely later on in the afternoon. Hope you're back out playing again soon. You've got to be back at Brands for the "Meldrew", inaugural winner and all that. As for the racing, it did seem a bit mean to take time for the safety car laps out of your allocation, but if that's how you've written your series' rules.... I presume the alternative of "2 green flag" laps before a normal start just could'nt be done in the limited time available. |

various comments
i do agree that the speed thing was a bit dull at times , but like a previous comment if they hadnt been there we wouldnt have been there either, but i must say that i enjoyed the whole day from a drivers point of view and it was a pleasure to race against some very good drivers and faster cars, i hope i didnt get in the way too much , my god i love racing in the wet, i was only 8 seconds slower than in the dry, and i didnt hang the back out once (wrc escorts and skylines need lots of room when they come past dont they) rob, sort your clutch out for lydenn and we'll play again

I got very wet... Ugh.
Anyway, almost 2,500 photos to go through outside of having a day job so give me a couple of days for the photos. |
