Luffield Red Zone

Does anybody know whether the inside of Luffield at Silverstone has been designated a red zone and hence is off limits for photgraphers for this weekends Walter Hayes event...or in fact if its been designated that way until further notice?

No it was only after the last GT round I believe it was imposed.
From what I can gather there were too many photgraphers there and there were "scuffles"..I dunno whether thats right or not just heresay so far. If anybody could clarify the reasoning behind this I'd love to know

I am at Brooklands this weekend for the WHT and we have been told by race control that Luffield Centre is a red zone for this meeting.

This is one of those stupid rules seemingly laid down by a jobsworth who couldn't give a monkey's anyway. One minute photographers are allowed then the next minute they're not! I did a 2 day meeting last year and was allowed the 1st day but not the second as someone else was in charge!! Its probably one of the safest spots as well yet its often a no-go area for photograhers. Theres plenty of room for both a few snappers and marshals.

Talking to people at the weekend it seems many photographers at the last BTCC round were standing in a position that left themselves extremely exposed i.e actually trackside and unprotected at the stretch leading from Luffield to Woodcote and nearly got hit.
Spoilt it for everybody else by being a bit stupid really
