Robin Plummer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
What was the best sounding GT1 car ever?

In my view I would say the Mercedes CLK-GTR because I love V12 engine sounds. Discuss.

I wonder what the next question will be:

"what GT car did you have the best sex in?" - or something like that?

No, that would be too difficult. There is normaly only one seat and the cockpit area restrictions laid down by the FIA would make it too uncomfotable!

Just for the record PRF, the engine in the McLaren was made by BMW for McLaren; it wasn't a BMW engine modified for McLaren.
Was amazing from inside the car, quite magnificent.

In all my years as a driver at the FIA GT races, I have to say the McLaren F1, both versions, were the best sounding GT1's. The Mercedes sounded nice, but were muffled. I got to drive one, and I have to say it just sounded great inside as well. Felt like the engine was glued to your back. On top of that the engine response was perfect. Fantastic car.

I always loved the Panoz
to be honest, the McLaren was also nice
and as I can't remember others, they probably didn't impress me with their sound

Although not a GT1, I think that the Corvettes on the pit straight at Le Mans sound pretty nice too. What do you think Aysedasi?

As did the Marcos, which if I am not mistaken ran as a GT1. Something along the lines of the Panoz. But I guess they still don't beat the McLaren.

it has to be either the porsche '98-gt1 or the toyota gt1. the noise of the turbo's and the combustion of the petrol injected into the exhaust when off the throttle was amazing, and that v8 was so revy it sounded beautiful!

This is becoming a common mistake. The Mercedes to flip at Le Mans in 1999 was the CLR (and had a V8 engine). The CLK-GTR was the V12-engined car which ran in 1997 and the beginning of 1998, the CLK-LM the V8-engined car which ran from Le Mans onwards in 1998. Clear?
