I think the cause was quite different. Other than it involved two cars in both cases. it did result in an Aston in the barrier.

One was a prototype changing line in the straight when lapping a GT car. This one was two GT cars on the limit in a corner.

Why? If anything the Aston was trying to execute the pass with the MB in the racing line.

BMW looked like he was trying to do his best JPM and not pay attention to safety vehicles there. Any question about why you can't trust racing drivers to police themselves

Exactly, when the support staff do this kind of posts incident maaintenance, safety is paramount. Which is why yellows, FCY's and Safety Cars matter. Debris doesn't grow little feet and walk itself off the track.

BMW #96 stopped on outside of the after nerfing the #12 Lexus.

FCY. IMSA gave everyone a chance to come in before the FCY, no one took it.

#60 did 46 lap stint fully under green and from the start. Currently 34 laps with 13 with some sort of yellow. 23 minutes left.
