The British Karting Championship has been cancelled, I can't see how club races can continue.

One of the measures introduced here is the withdrawal of any random roadside breath testing.

That is only the booze buses set up at various points, not affected is the ability for a police officer to stop you if driving badly and test you then.

I hope the Aussie mentality doesnt take over with a woohoo we can drive down to the pub, or visit friends for a few bevvies and drive home half cut without the worry of RBTs....

On a different note i'm moving house this weekend (after 35 years) and have already started moving stuff to the new house. Hoping I dont get all the essentials into the new house and be at the old house cleaning up when and if we go into the lockdown that our government say is under consideration..

As someone who abhors drink-driving I hope that it doesn’t lead to an increase in the practice.....

With the NHS ramping up to DEFCON level whatever, it’s already making life more difficult for anyone with non related existing health issues! The hospital here is cancelling non-urgent stuff and face to face meetings, and getting through on the phone now can take ages. My local surgery has two premises, one is now in lockdown except for collecting prescriptions- through a side window while queuing outside. At the other you are greeted out front by a masked and gowned nurse, and taken through a questionnaire before being granted access (or not). And I don’t think it’s going to get any easier in the coming months!

Yes, im also a known hater of drink drivers. I have been known to confiscate friends car keys and either give them a lift home myself, or give them their door key and given them money to get a cab.

Thinking the panic buying period may have died down, I went to JS to get some loo rolls, as my stock is down to 4.

Guess what- the shop looked like war zone...... What is wrong with people!

Likewise, It's never been in any way acceptable in my lifetime, whilst I enjoy a bit of both It's always strictly on separate occaisions. THere really isn't any excuse for it.

Isn't Macron just getting revenge on us for giving him a well-deserved beating on Sunday??

My friends have an elderly couple staying in their hotel long-term whilst their storm-damaged home is repaired. Now they are not even allowed to eat in the dining-room, only in their own room. They are the only people staying there, yet are effectively confined to one room.

How ridiculous is that?

Statement from TOCA
Yesterday (16 March) the government introduced updated coronavirus directives. These included asking citizens to avoid all non-essential social contact and non-essential travel, as well as advising of the withdrawal of the provision of emergency services to mass gatherings.

TOCA of course completely respects the government’s directives. The health of our entire nation – not just our competitors, fans, marshals, officials and personnel - is of absolute importance. Accordingly, the start of the 2020 BTCC must now be delayed and we therefore advise the postponement of our first three events:
Donington Park (March 28/29)
Brands Hatch (April 11/12)
Silverstone (April 25/26)
Clearly the COVID-19 situation is ever-changing and incredibly challenging for everyone. Our firm intention is to run the full season of ten events and we will work closely with the circuits and our stakeholders in order to reschedule new dates for all postponed events. These will be confirmed and announced when there is further clarity regarding the eventual resumption of major sporting events.

I understand it is. All restaurants are closed even in the hotels but room service is supposed to work fine. If you really want to avoid any contact I guess it must be safe to order everything in slices so you can get your food under the door…
I do recommend meat and ham for example but as to yogurts its gonna be quite a challenge!

May be I can make some money renting my dogs cose we are allowed to walk them. Have to ask if they're not too tired after so many mile tho… Luckily we can download a kind of official permit, attestation sur l'honneur, to drive our cars.

John you must be learning about a famous french invention, le fameux Système D. D pour Débrouille ou Démerde could be translated as SPS, Smart Panties System. In my area, some bistrots/ tabacs are opened. Doors are closed but they proudly display large posters saying "window service only"!!!

he opening round of this season’s Intelligent Money British GT Championship has been postponed following guidance issued by the UK government and Motorsport UK in response to containing the spread of coronavirus and COVID-19.
A new date for Oulton Park’s double header, which was due to take place over Easter Bank Holiday Weekend (April 11 & 13), is already being discussed.
Championship organisers, SRO Motorsports Group, still fully intend to stage seven rounds as per 2020’s original schedule. Further information will be issued in due course.

I presume you've seen that the MSUK has cancelled all event permits until the beginning of May.

Means my work this weekend has been cancelled, but as Clay Pigeon is still open I'm hoping to get there for some tests. I'm letting this weekend fall fallow and hoping to get karts out next weekend.

Assuming events do restart later in the year and there are still some teams around to run in them, it's going to be a very crowded calendar.

Perhaps the BTCC and GT's could run at the same time?

I suppose they could do something like that on the multiple circuits at Silverstone - if they could find enough marshals.

My wife and I went to get our normal fortnightly shopping at JS today believing that the initial panic may have died down - war zone is an understatement! In my 72 years I've never witnessed anything like it. Anyway I disinfected the wife when we got home and liberally wiped down all prominent surfaces
