Kathrine's record, as a driver, is at least as good as PKV, as a team,

1st, Oh but your hidden motives did as they always do IC! 2nd, maybe so but that is irrelevant now since she did race in CC for 2006. get over it! 3rd, Your so enlightening IC..... but you are the master at taking things out of context to suit your anti CC agenda!! KK has made it known since the summer that Katherine probably wouldn't be driving for PKV racing in 2007 BUT has said she WILL be driving in Champcar with some team for 2007!!! So stop trying to imply that she lost her drive based on KK /PKV losing confidence in her. He's been a big supporter of Katherine and still is. There are far more intricate political reasons for many of the driver changes going on in CC for 2007 of which Katherine is involved in. But than I think you know this already and are just trying to spin things in the direction you always do! |

Katherine and Kevin are very close. One of Katherine's heros in actual fact is KK.

Indycool, I thought you ment that she said something offensive on the website. Even so, it's interesting to see confirmed details of that PKV decision.
I'm not so sure about Legge's record normal-normal. He record was basically that she spun and crashed an awfull lot. At best she was adequate. Philippe was much maligned in his first two years. I think the second half of Philippe's rookie season was more impressive than what Legge has accomplished. I'm not writing her off yet, but she like a number of recent rookies could have stood more time in a lower series. |

NGNG,
1. Just what "hidden motives" are behind a fact. Read the thread title. 2. Yes, she did, and finished on the lead lap one time. 3. I don't recall KK hinting one way or the other whether KL would be back with PKV or not. Link? And if KK was hot on her driving and wanted her driving for his team, why would he not pick up her option? From Legge's column, she's confident KK will get her something to drive.....for somebody else. No, Snrub, wasn't trying to indicate anything was offensive there.....just A) it was new to me that she had an option for '07 with PKV, and B) was new to me that her option was not picked up by PKV. Secondarily, that she hopes/thinks/feels confident KK will find her something else to drive. |

icemachine, the first part of that column is of interest, too.....Forsythe seems pretty set on one car without a sponsor.

Just read over at Autosport.com that Minardi team manager Vince Kremer is optimistic that the team will retain their 2006 driving line up. Obviously the final decision isnt down to Kremer but still, for Clarke and Philippe to have his backing can only be a good thing. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/56164

Philippe definately deserves to be retained. They'd be hard pressed to find anyone who would perform better.
As for Clarke, I'm a bit indifferent. I think a couple of years he will be a driver to reckon with, but in 2006 he was far to immature and inconsistant. As for Hylton, it would be nice if he joined. I think equally important to the low costs is the reasonably level playing field. With the limitations to the setups the cars should be closer than ever, meaning that a low-budget team has a real chance of succeeding. |

It's been suggested that Red Bull wil sponsor a couple of european drivers on PKV in '07. Red Bull is an odd company. I don't get why they would do that to people who appear to be merely of above average quality. Surely sponsoring a better driver would give them better exposure.

Well isnt Red Bull the worlds 2nd largest soft drinks manufacturer after Coca-cola? If it isnt the 2nd biggest it must surely be 3rd after Pepsi? I imagine that Red Bull gain a lot of revenue through their advertising in the various forms of motorsport they are connected with whether it be GP2, Champcar or F1. Either way its good to have a sponsor like Red Bull in Champcar.

When you get people paying $2 for a $0.5 drink, you can afford to sponsor a lot of guys.

Yes McDonald's is a big sponsor but only in Champcar I think. I might well be wrong but I cant think of another team in motorsport that is receving McDonald's sponsorship other than Newman Haas.

Now this raises an issue (well not really but thats always a good way to start a post)
The McDonalds deal with newman Haas. I was under the impression (and Im probably wrong) that this was a trade sort of deal. Newman Haas : we will put a Big M on our Champcar if you use Mr newman's sauces in something you sell at your restaurants Obviously there is money trading hands but i thought this was the gist of the deal ? someone care to correct my vague mental state |
