fatbloke should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
How come there was no slow down lap at Spa today ? Is that normal here ? Certainly seemed to confuse Michael when the marshalls jumped out in front of him and waved the drivers into Parc Ferme!

I think it was something to do with the length of the track and the inevitable track invasion. Most tv stations only stay for the podium so they dont want to waste more time, as spa is the longest track of the year. Probably the spa organisers didnt want a repeat of Hungary 98. They did the same in the f3000 race.

Is it normal though ? Won't it do any harm to the engines to suddenly stop like that ?

We stood waiting, cameras poised, for the slow lap after last year's GP, and it never happened...

The cars usually do go around on a slow down lap and then park it in the Parc Ferme for pit rats like me to gawk at. However it usually would not take over 2 minutes to complete the slow down lap.

I thought the scruitineers (or the FIA-man-with-the-measuring-tape-findin-an-irregularity-with-the-Ferrari-side-skirts ) would prefer the cars to cool down a little before they put their snotty little hands on them?

Surely it wouldn't be good for the engine, but what about the brakes?

There hasn't been a "cool down" lap at Spa for at least the last ten years. I think that it is because of the length of the cirquit and would take up to three minutes to complete. Also the cars would require an extra lap's worth of fuel (nearly 4 miles) so the teams would be reluctant to fuel the cars for that additional lap.

I'm with Mr S on this one.

Let's settle the dance music issue before we start thinking about racing.

Yeah, that annoyed me too. I like to see the drivers' reactions in parc ferme, save the highlights till after the press conference, please!

Exactly! Not like anyone at the FIA is thinking about racing.

Mr Mosley - "Oh - racing....I thought you said raving. Bernie, this bloke on the phone is saying we really ought to do something about the racing. So what's that then? Is it important?"
Mr Ecclestone - "No, no, no... thers's no need to worry about that, the money's coming in fine. So did you think the music was OK?"
