Indeed agree, to be realistic about the LM P1 car grid: 8-10 cars

Rebellion plan on two cars. Not from the get go but eventually.

I wonder if it wasn't a better idea to say "GTE-Am teams must run amateurs during at least 3.5 hours per race". That would allow two-driver pro-am pairs.

Grand-Am fans certainly wouldn't take issue with that.

Aston Martin and Ferrari use the same compound Michelin in GTE. So wouldn't be surprised if its them. Possibly Dunlop, Yokohama? Pirelli ?

One reason for going with a spec tire is to make money. A tire manufacturer gets the sponsorship rights in return for cheaper tires.
The teams get better deals, the series gets a few extra bucks, and it is only GTD anyway. No one ever seemed to care that PC or GTD used spec tires, and the racing was not negativley affected. |

In a pro-am series (ie; not dependent on tv money), the Tyre co pay the series for the rights Series no longer charges as much for entry as the tender covered costs (or no longer needs as many entrants) Teams pay less for the championship but more for the entry That's my perception anyway, I may well be wrong. |

Nope, you are not. Issue with spec tires and non spec cars is that some fit better to a certain car than others ...
If you really want to reduce cost, you have to cap them ... |

Another downside is that other tyre manufacturers can't do a works program, as have Dunlop, Yokohama, Falken and Hankook.

LMP1 to be split into LMP1-L (privateer non-hybrid) and LMP1-H (factory and privateer hybrids). So basically we have two privateer LMP classes?? (LMP1-L & LMP2) |

Looking ahead to Fuji, with both Toyota's going head to head again. And looking further ahead to next season...looking forward to Toyota having some proper Racing Engined rivals...that won't Sound & Smell like Tractors!
