Quirky indeed but aerodynamically fairly advanced for its day, not surprisingly given the manufacturer. For me that Bristol is one of the iconic shapes of the 1950. This 1954 version was the best looking of the 3 versions (they were rebodied twice). Since only one of the original exists, and that with the open 1955 body, I never thought to see this shape in the flesh, so was delighted when I was asked if it could run with us. Does no-one remember the classic Dinky model (cat ref no 163) of it which was in production from 1956 -60? I still have mine!

Thanks, again, Bob. I like the fact that someone has built it. It was actually a very successful car in its few outings. I don't say its beautiful, merely that in the context of its time, it looked futuristic. You should see the 1953 version, and the open 1955 version hardly delighted. It is in that sense that it was the best looking of the 3 versions. Yes, I'm a complete anorak!

John, i well remember these cars in period, and I do not think they looked out of place in the '50's, and they were certainly effective at Le Mans for which they were designed.
