Brit Gp Tickets

I noticed in this weeks Autosport that Silverstone are telling us to buy tickets for the GP, as they are likely to sell out quicker than usual. Now I can't think of any reason why this might be, after all I would have thought that last years debacle would have put many people off going to the GP. The only reason that comes to mind for Silverstone to say this is that ticket sales are actually down on previous years, and they are doing this to scare people into buying, therefore speeding up the sales.

I think all the people that didn't get to this years GP who had tickets have been offered tickets for next years instead
But I too have no doubt that there is a bit of a marketing ploy behind it .
Not sure if I'm going to be there this time, I might go to a proper track instead .

I opened a thread about this at the Trackside forum some time ago. I wrote:

The British GP will return to its normal time slot in 2001, scheduled for the 15th of July.

ITV reported that Silverstone organisers are urging fans to book early for the 2001 British GP in order to avoid disappointment.

Peter Morris, spokesperson for the circuit, was quoted as saying: 'The race has gone back to its July date and it may seem a long way away to people with Christmas on their minds so legions of F1 fans may have put off securing their bookings until next year. But because we are offering replacement tickets to fans who couldn't get to this years race the reality is that tickets are in significantly short supply - even shorter than normal - and we are dealing on a 'first come first served' basis.'

If the prices weren't so high, I'd go.

I'd especially like to go this year as it looks like they may have a British F3 race as one of the support slots too.
