Who is the rightful heir to the Schumi throne?
A hot topic, no doubt. I'd like to hear peoples opinion on this. Fisi, probably too old. Massa maybe, Barrichello could be Ferrari No.1, if they want him, Montoya?? Webber?? I reckon Alonso would be favourite.

I'd agree with Alonso . Fissi and Massa are a poor option a Aussie in Ferrari would be nice but highly unlikley Webber has about as much chance leading Ferrari as Rossi not to say Webber would kick@ss doing it

Webber is a champ. For some reason I can't see him in a Ferrari. A Williams maybe. Massa needs a few more years to develop as a driver, but Ferrari already like him. 2004 will make him or break him. Has anyone thought how well JV would do in a Ferrari. I still beleive he is a great driver. He has just made some really bad choices. Why he joined BAR when Williams were still up there is beyond me.

If by throne you mean "best of his generation" I'd have to go for Alonso or possibly Kimi
I'd like to say Montoya but I suspect he's led too much by the heart and not enough by the head great to watch and I'd be suprised if there isn't at least one world championship in him but Schueys Heir No. If by throne you mean his Ferrari seat Hmmm difficult to say for one thing if the reports are true he isn't intending to vacate it for at least another 3 seasons which is more than enough time for another Alonso or Kimi to come along of the current crop though I think possibly Massa as the others I suspect will be firmly bolted into contracts with Mclaren and Renault by the time the opportunity arises As for Webber I tend to feel he is out of the Alan Jones mould and therefore is purpose built for an eventual Williams drive (although I hope Villeneuve gets his last chance there first and before Micheal retires there's unfinished buisness there) |

As a Ferrari fan, looking at the current crop, i'd pretty much like to see Alonso (since Kimi's out of the question), in the Ferrari. And after being settled in by Barrichello (with MS at the pitwall), Webber would step in for Barrichello?
It would be good to have a blend of driver, one more analytical, one more instinctive, one more edgy and one more smooth, as the balance would be ideal. As for Montoya, it would be nice to have him in Ferrari, but there would be doubts over whether teams like Ferrari/Mclaren/even current Williams, would be pleased to put up with constant shoutings over the radio. Ron and Brawn afterall are used to "discussions", not shouting match. |

It's between Kimi Raikkonen, Fernado Alonso and Mark Webber who has the best luck in choosing the right team at the right time.

F1 is getting more interesting because there isn't one obvious heir to the Schumi throne (ie the one driver to beat). Kimi Raikkonen, Fernado Alonso, or Juan Pablo Montoya or Mark Webber (in the right car) ... or ... the list goes on.
Can't wait for March! |

Clearly, the seat belongs to F1's 2nd best driver, Eddie Irvine.
Indeed, indeed. |

There simply isn't one yet, and it will take some time before we find out.

It's funny no-one seems to have voted for Montoya here. But I'd vote for Kimi or Alonso, anyway

We're talking about heirs, therefore defined as young. Ralf is too old to be spoken of as a rookie.

I agree with Adam, nobody has earnt it yet but we have a great list of possibilities.
Potential future champions from the current group include Juan, Kimi, Alonso & Webber. They seem to be the hottest property at the moment. You also could'nt rule out Ralf or Button (who was fantastic towards the end of the season) if the car permits. Of course, we have no idea when the next hot driver could come along. The 4 hottest drivers did'nt exist in F1 before 2001. |

It really could be anyone out of Montoya, Kimi, Alonso and Webber. They all have different characteristics that can be matched with Michael. Alonso is brilliantly fast and unobtrusive, Raikkonen has nerves of steel, Montoya has guts and a real racer's mentality, and Webber seems to be able to guide a team forward. As has been said, it will probably depend on which get the right teams and the right luck.

Alonso should be favourite for the Ferrari seat. I agree with Skam85, I also can't see Webber in a Ferrari - a Williams definately. And Kimi should stay in a McLaren, as I think he's doing fine there. That should be good racing!

Ralf has been in F1 for years. Montoya has been there hardly half as long.

Yes indeed, the possibility exists. But it's about as strong a possibility as Nick Heidfeld winning the title for the next 5 years. We're talking about the best man to fill TGF's shoes - that IS NOT Ralf.
