MG works pull out!

MG is set to pull out of its works LMP 675 car at the end of the year and concentrate on supplying customer cars. MG are looking at plans for its new X80 super car and the new FIA class for the MGF-T. However, 2 teams have already shown interest in the customer cars. Risi competizione and Dyson racing are looking at the 675 front runner for the ALMS season by the end of this year.

It burgles up my English too. Haven't got my working furds in such a twist for a long time. Just when I thought it was safe to come out of the water .......... and they (or at least Blundle) looked so good at PQ. What with that and only one Bentley, I feel reet burgled.
Better have a bacon butty to start the day and think about it.

OK so I thought about it and .......

Pink69 - Methinks folks read what they want....i thought your post said at the end of the year. Not prior to LM. Oh well, I guess "we've made our decisions. Don't confuse us with the facts."

FG1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It would certainly have been good to have had a factory team for next year (2003) which would make MG's effort the standard three years. But given the popularity of the car with privateers we can reasonably expect at least three MGs for 2003. Lets hope the privateer drivers have learnt the circuit by then and they are competitive.

Lets hope they change their mind and do send a works team. If Audi don't show with a factory team next year MG stand a real chance. MG v Bentley on the final lap?

From the begining, the MG people have been difficult for Lola to deal with. I think that the car has a great chance of winning overall, and yet MG seems to not take the full benifit from it. Lola wanted an all new car this year, MG wanted a reworked 2001 spec machine.

In an interview with Autosport, Blundell stated that the MG had a "few new parts", but I got the impression that, aside from improving relabilty", the car was not altered a great deal.

With the low press interest in Le Mans in the uk, who can blame MG for pushing Touring cars more.
A works team pull out will not mean the end of the car, and may mean teams can put diffrent engines into what must be one of the best balanced chassis to create a winning car.

ive read it, but the factory mg teams is one of my favorites and i dont like that theyre leaving peroid. the same way with joest not racing audis next year

i take it their drivers are going to be ether spilt up between the privateer teams and their touring car effort?

I saw this in Autosport... But would be inclined to take it with a pinch of salt until I hear an official comment.
