Top 5 prospects for future

Alright I would like to get a lot of opinions on this, quite simply, who do you feel are the top 5 prospects as future F1 drivers who are right now not in F1 but will be there shortly? Could be a test driver, F3000, F3, Formula Renault, sports cars, touring cars, ChampCar? IRL??, other

Thoughts

Unfortunately, quite a few "prospects" i can see are actually in F1 already..but as a testing role.

Right now, with recently Scott's failed attempt to come over, it seems unlikely in the short-term for any guys to make a switch from US to F1.

Perhaps Rossi would figure a way into F1, but primarily i see a few choices like Anthony, Briscoe, Renault's test driver, etc would be the top prospect in the short term.

As for long term ? I guess we need to take a peek at the Karting scene... Damien Payart, RENAUDIE MANUEL, CHAUMOT Claude whaatever..

But u never know..nobdoy could have seen Kimi coming

Anthony Davidson, Frank Montagny, Viantonio Liuzzi in the next year or two.

Then in the medium term James Rossiter, Nelsinho Piquet, Lewis Hamilton.

I think Bourdais is a great talent. He races different forms of racing and is good at each. Poor luck and a little inexperience in Champcars held him back last year. I am sure he would be great in F1. Unfortunately, I dont think he would add too much personality to the sport.

I would like to see Ant race this year. Dont know how that would happen but since I have never really seen him race I cant really comment on what I think he is capable of.

After Bourdais' antics at Le Mans, I'm not sure we want him in F1. At least not until he's grown up.

I honestly don't know enough of the 'second rung' series like F3000 etc to have an opinion. I certainly think Ant Davidson is worthy of a race seat - he obviously has the necessary speed. I suspect Nelsinho may be one for the future - he's done well in F3, and you can't really ask for a better mentor than his dad.

As for sportscars and GTs, there's a couple of youngsters by the names of McRae and Kristensen that might be worth a try...

I'd say Vitantonio Luizzi, Jamie Green, Seb Bourdais, Anthony Davidson and Bjorn Wirdheim. All of these have shone in junior formulae and should be able to reign in any wild tendencies.

That said, Rossi in F1 would truly be something special, althoug it might detract fromt he currently-better-than-F1 MotoGP action.

Seabass AKA Sebastien Bourdais - fast and aggressive driver, who would definitely spice up the action. He's very aggressive on-track, but maybe a bit too restrained off it. If he was more flambuoyant, then he would get a drive. He and Montagny would be a great 'Renault B Team' all-French line-up!

Bourdais is definately fast. In CART Bourdais isn't that aggressive that I'd mention it as a bad thing. In fact last year he was passed a number of times by not being aggressive enough.

Since we all know anyone who's raced in any US based series has their DNA mutated to make them incompatable with F1 , I'm sure Dixon will now be brought up along with Andretti everytime someone wants to make this point.

Some good longer term prospects from Mackmot there.

On the subject of Sebastian Bourdais - anyone who saw his antics at Le Mans - and the shocking way he subsequently handled the situation, would no longer call him "restrained" off the track.

Good enough to be leading one of Europe's top single seater champs, why not.
