2005 to provide better entertainment?
I know we're not quite 1/2 way through this year but i can't help to think what next year should bring from a racing standpoint. I also think this year is going to be a repeat of 2002 unfortunatley. But lets face it, the racing this year has been quite lackluster (w/ exception of Monaco). The inter-team duals aren't even that good w/ the exception of Toyota, Renault and with some exception BAR. I mean
Ferrari - Micheal is blowing Rubens away BAR - Taku keeps blowing engines so Jenson is getting more points and podiums Renault - Alonso has slipped up a little and being taken by Trulli Williams - Ralf sucks Sauber - Massa started strong but has been wasted by fisi the last few races. sauber has been upping their game. McLaren - Just plain bad.....15 laps of racing doesn't count. Jaguar - Webber is blowing away Klein Toyota - Kinda even there but who cares it's toyota Jordan - Heidfield blowing the doors off pantano Minardi - who cares? I just think next year has the opportuinity provide some great entertainment across the board. We should have 5-6 (Ferrari, Williams, McLaren, Renault, BAR and possibly Sauber) teams consistently battling for points. The drivers on the team should be fairly equal in the top teams to provide more interteam racing. Kimi vs JPM will be great Hopefully Webber will team up with someone at williams and whoever that may be will be great to see. Whether it's JV, Fisi or Hiedfield. Taku vs Button again Trulli (if he's there) vs. Alonso is fairly even Micheal....well no that doesn't count. Your thoughts? |

You make it sound so negative, things are getting better, BAR is pushing Ferrari more and more and with the immonent arival of the MP4 19B things could get very intresting verry soon...

Hard to predict how 2005 will be; everybody can agree that only the end of this one-man domination can bring up new elements of interest.

There are plenty of possible lines of interest in 2005, but if Ferrari produce the best car again, the onyl interest will be the battle for 2nd. It's a shame because there is some good varied racing behind the Ferraris, but so many other championships are offering far mroe variety, thrills, real racing and surprises - MotoGP, BTCC and IRL for a start, which is where my interest is centred.

Don't start getting your hopes up ALREADY!
I have to embarrasdley admit I completely fell for all the "this will be the best F1 season EVER" hype that was going around the magazines and websites before Melbourne, and thusly came away from that race feeling hugely deflated at the lack of compettitiveness in that race. So don't go getting your hopes up now, you'll only be either deflated, or right...better to think this boring streak will continue for about 10 years, then if it changes (like in Monaco), be pleasantly suprised! Besides, it's already WORSE than 2002...by this time that year, we'd already had 3 different winners, and the 2002 Australian, Malaysian and Brazillian GP's were actually very exciting races....it was only when we hit Europe, the bubble burst!

People say it is boring, but look at Monaco, there was ZERO overtaking, but it was still a great race. WHY? because somebody was going to beat the master.
Prost & Schumie have both said it & I agree, when somebody scores in basketball; so what - it happens every few seconds. when somebody scores in soccer; wow - what an achivement - it is quite normal for the score to end up nil/nil. |

their is already a good soild base for 05
I would excpet the Merc boys to bounce back and the Kimmi /jpm fight should be good to watch although it should be a short one as Kimmi will take care of it quite quickly. Renault will continue to improve but will the 1st non Gascoyne chassis perform? Bar will start to move in a backward tread BUT not that much as the Willy's and Mac's will return form . Toyota I think will be the biggest movers next year with a Gascyone Chassis and Ralf behind the wheel I think Toyota will overtake Bar 05 should be one of the best years for a while + more races sounds good to me |

Umm, The GPDA is the Grand Prix Drivers Association, I think that you might actually mean the GPWC, which is the Grand Prix World Championship, being organised by the car manufacturers.
