slicktoast should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
When was the last time...

...that there wasn't a yellow flag in the last 20 laps of Indy? Seems that if I can judge the timing right and watch the last 20 or so laps the race changes complexion and negates just about everything that happened before.

I believe it was 1999...

wanna know why???

Robby Gordon tried to play the same "top it off" strategy that Hornish and Michael played yester and hoping for a yellow...

He didn't get it and he ran out of fuel on the 2nd to last lap....Kenny brack got the win....Gordon just made it to his pits to get a splash and a restart...finished fourth..

I don't know, but this was the second year in a row that Kosuke Matsuura beat Roger Yasukawa by one position.

Also, Larry Foyt improved his average finish from 32.5 to 31.67

It's also the first time Americans went 1-2-3 since 1998 when 1 through 5 were all American.

It's also the first time that a Rookie has gotten last since 1996 when Johnny Unser did although Kenny Brack got 33rd in '97, his rookie year and fellow rookie Sam Schmidt got 34th, 35 cars started the race that year and the first car out was Alessandro Zampedri who was in his second start

there's your useless facts for the day.

D70s should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Interesting fact about the race: in the 90 event history of the 500 only once has there been a pass for the lead on the final lap.
