Simonsen to Strakka!

Where does this nugget leave Gigawave, with Silverstone LMS clashing with Brno FIA GT?

Also noticed that #73 is missing of the entry list on the LMS website.

Bit of a strange move to go from a top level FIA GT team to a bottom level LMS team.

This may be because they are changing the drivers to Beretta and Gavin. In an interview cited by Horndawg in another thread, Luc Alphand was discussing that he had planned to use Beretta and Gavin in more races this year but things didn't work out but they were on the list to drive Silverstone.

It appars that Darren Turner will drive the Strakka car at Silverstone.

Not Simonsen?
Or both? That'd be impressive.

LMS entry list on their (LMS) website has been updated to say it will be: Peter Hardman, Nick Leventis & Darren Turner.

Perhaps.

I felt at first it deserved a seperate one because of the Brno clash.

Now it isn't really needed!

Looks like that car will be racing in FFSA GT instead. Soheil Ayari and Bruno Hernandez have left SRT and will be racing the Luc Alphand Corvette C6.R at Albi next weekend.

My guess is that after that race there isn't enough time to have it ready for the Le Mans Series and/or get it from Albi to Silverstone in time.

Subaru_WRX_STi has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

I agree with you from a top team in FIA GT, battling with the bests, to a very small and privateer effort

who will drive with Peter now ?

Darren has indeed had one more drive with aston this year than last year which came in the form of the Spa 24 hours with Gigawave and Darren achieved with Peter, Simonsen and Thompson a 3rd place finish overall, seems Darren has a habit of doing well in a aston

would be good to see Darren boost up the Strakka team for the home event of Aston Martin, it would be fabulous to see Modena or Strakka win GT1 at the 1000km, would make a nice tally with the FIA GT win at Silverstone as well

That's pretty dumb considering they're battling for the championship in the LMS. The NEED that 2nd car in there to help get any points they can!

Why? they are 10 points ahead off Modena so that is almost won... Because they where classified last race as second they have probably the best change....

Still, What if they had a wreck on the first lap and didn't finish, and Modena won. They'd have equal points, but Modena would have had more wins, which I'd assume would give them the championship, or would they call it a 2 way tie?

I'm guessing they are going to be as careful as they can and just try to finish. No matter where they finish if they just finish they win the championship. The race will be between Strakka and Modena.

Simonsen is racing for Strakka at Silverstone - but not in the 1000kms and not in the DBR9

He'll share their ex ALMS BMW M3GTR in the Britcar 24 Hours
