Right, here you are.
What's wrong with this ? http://www.teamdangerous.com/Cadwell91.JPG Or even this: http://www.teamdangerous.com/Cadwell93_1.JPG Other than the fact that they've put a nasty high kerb there now. Rob. Last edited by Tim Falce; 29 Mar 2007 at 22:45. |

I've just revisited this thread after a while. I've got a couple of points. Firstly if the drivers gain no advantage from cutting they won't do it. So there needs to be a penalty for cutting, not as time added by the stewards after the race, but by making the surface on the inside of the corner slower or slipperier than the tarmac. Of course you never see anyone cut the hairpin at Mallory, so there,s another solution. Secondly, why have corners been widened and or eased on the exit? This only encourages people to run wide to maximise their speed. There should be a good deal of grass at the exit before any alternative surface. Anyone running wide has to back off and can't simply power their way out of the mistake.

My argument has always been to replace at least one of the "floppies" found on some corners with a solid steel version.
.....and don't tell the drivers which one it is !! |

Those "rising bollards" are quite effective - have you seen the video of 7.5T Truck @ 50mph vs Rising Bollard. Bollard 1 - Truck 0.

if you made the kerbs like the ones at croix which are huge and if you run deeply overthem are so bumpy it blurs your vision, you wouldnt dare do any more than just clip them,
but if you made a huge mistake and went right over them you could rejoin the circuit but only after trundling along the grass for a bit so you could rejoin the circuit where there wasnt any kerb as such and thus losing a big chunk of time, no need for time penalties or bollards |
